I'm thinking of placing the BD in a BD case, and leaving the CD in the original cover in my CD collection. Could someone scan the front, back and spine in high resolution? I'll try to make a BD cover insert.

Does anyone know where to buy original high quality BD plastic covers in few quantities for an affordable price online, that also ship international?

Well i just got my copy this morning, so far i have listened to it twice once in DTS-MA 5.1 and once in PCM 5.1 at a normal to lower volume level.both sound about the same but the PCM track seems to have a bit more bass. the album sounds great but i wasn't as blown away by the sound quality as i though id be. its very good but not reference quality. Pink Floyds dark side of the moon on SACD still blows it away as far as sound quality. its also a tad bit too surround heavy for my tastes. im glad im off work this week, i want to try recalibrating my system and give it another listen..maybe this time ill crank it loud enough to knock the squirrels out of the trees.

I doubt I will ever listen to the PCM 2.0 mix to compare, the 5.1 PCM is the bee's knees. Another great surround disc to add to the collection.

Roll on NIN's The Fragile!!! \o/

I listened for about 3-4 seconds. It's jarring to hear it in 5.1 surround, then have the whole thing fall flat when switching to Stereo... PCM or no PCM. Deflated, like a balloon.

Picked this up from BB earlier today. I listened to the entire album on blu, just finished it and it's great. really takes me back! the best mixes are the 5.1 in either the 96/24PCM or DTS-HD-MA. the stereo PCM doesn't have the lower end power of the multichannel mixes. it sounds good but is lacking when compared to the other mixes. I still love it, don't get me wrong. it sounds this way on my smaller system in the basement but when played on my main HT that sub kicks in and picks up the slack in the 2 channel PCM so it sounds great on the big system with a sub.

they did a great job remastering this album. this is a must have for classic rock fans; Tom Sawyer would be proud!

I always do the "virgin" listen in the original mix as often as possible, so I started with the PCM 2.0 and "graduated" to PCM 5.1 and then sampled the DTS-HD MA 5.1 track.

By the way, in the PCM 2.0 track, is anybody missing the first note of "Tom Sawyer"? I originally thought this was just my A/V receiver being slow in transition, but the note is present on both the 5.1 tracks. Then I read an interesting tidbit on Wikipedia :

The first pressings of Moving Pictures on compact disc were missing the first beat of "Tom Sawyer" by mistake. This was corrected in subsequent CD releases.
So...maybe a subtle wink or something?

So when you say the first note or beat of Tom Sawyer how far in the beginning is it so I can locate it. I never really noticed anything, but then again I wasn't listening for it either. BTW, was this for the cd or bluray or both?

i want to take a moment to change, slightly, my initial review of the 2 channel PCM. i listened to this mostly on my secondary system system in the basement office and really not too much on the main HT system upstairs. well today i did listen to it upstairs. i cranked the Axiom M80v3 speakers up a little and listen to the 2 channel PCM ouput in 2.1 and i've changed my mind for my system that i prefer the 2 channel PCM over the multichannel for my main HT room listening pleasure. however for the secondary smaller system in the basement office the either of the 5.1 mixes are best.

i guess i'm saying this, like anything else will sound differently on different systems. it will depend on the system and the settings of said system. so again, for me, in the big HT room, without a doubt, 2 channel PCM in and being put out with 2.1 is BOSS!

Oh yeah, YYZ is the king on the album with Tom Sawyer an incredibly close second! Love the whole album but those two are my favorites by far! Party & Rock On Dudes!

by the way, i didn't have any problems with any tracks on either the CD or Blu-Ray discs.

Mind if I ask a Newbi question? I have been listening and enjoying this release and I noticed that several of you have mentioned that Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon is also very good, I am a pretty big fan of PF as well so I thought I might pick it up.

What I am wanting to know is: My PS3 is fairly new so it doesn't have SACD playback, but it does have DSD, the Pink Floyd disc says that it is a SACD DSD hybrid. Does that mean it contains both a SACD and DSD format? Will my PS3 play this disc correctly? Thank you!

if you have a ps3 slim, you cannot play SACD disc. you can play SACD/hybrid disc as they contain a CD layer that the ps3 can play; this is not SACD that you are hearing it's CD.

the ps3 slim also as it does not support SACD doesn't support DSD which is the native format of SACD.

DSOTM does in fact have CD layer as it's a Hybrid disc so yes, it will play in your ps3 slim but only the CD layer 44.1khz/16bit.

if you want SACD with DSD (Direct Stream Digital) from end to end you will need two things, a player that supports SACD/DSD output via HDMI and a receiver/pre-amp that supports SACD/DSD input.

you will know this is the case if you put a single layer SACD/DSD disc into the ps3, it will not play it. it will state something like format unknown, unsupported disc format or something to that effect.

if you want to play SACD/DSD encoded disc you need a standalone player. if you don't want to spend a boat load of $, here is one that will do the trick for very little $ the Pioneer DV-610AV-K player. it's $109.00 !!!!!!

best of luck, keep us posted.

Thanks for the great info. I apologize for not reading up on the sticky post before asking questions. Thanks for the player recommendation as well. Moving Pictures sounds so good I would like to get some more high quality discs. Sucks that the PS3 won't do it, I am used to it pretty much doing everything, but I will look into getting a standalone.

yeah, it's too bad the ps3 doesn't support SACD or DVD-a in their native formats because if it did, it would rule the player world! Oppo would never be able to exist as the top standalone multi-player if the ps3 was smart enough to support those formats!

that Pioneer is your best, cheapest solution. i recommend you get it and as long as your receiver supports DSD, your in for a real treat!

best of luck to ya!

Yeah, forgot to mention in my review the cool right channel echo with the glass crash in YYZ. Another one of those things I never heard before on the regular CD release.

Much still to discover after YEARS of listenings...
