Not quite a double-dip. Jackass 3.5 is supposed to be some of the stuff that was cut from Jackass 3, so the entire film should be compiled from previously-unseen footage.

Haven't they done the .5 rerelease gimmick with the first two as well?

Very much: Double Dipping IMO. It was stuff they could've given us with the first release. Both versions on the same disc, no excuse.

Awesome. I streamed 2.5 from Netflix last weekend and there was enough footage to be its own movie. Looking forward to 3.5!

why?

it's an entirely different film. they made so much footage for the film they could have made multiple films out of it. so...they did.

this is NOT jackass 3, directors or extended cut. these are DIFFERENT skits. there does not appear to be a combo pack of 3 and 3.5, so anyone wanting all of it still has to buy both.

this is the same thing they've done in the past, and the wikipedia page for the film has mentioned 3.5 for about half a year now. it's just finally coming to fruition.

This.

It's like Anchorman and Wake Up Ron Burgundy. There was simply so much footage shot that another film could be made.

There is no Jackass 1.5 but there was an unrated version.

With Jackass 2 they shot so much stuff but there was a lot of footage that wouldn't work with theatrical audiences. The producers figured that fans of Jackass wouldn't have a problem having that on home video so Jackass 2.5 was edited together to create a proper narrative.

Jackass 2.5 eventally led to Jackass 3 and again there was a lot that wouldn't work with theatrical audiences. Fans of Jackass would now be able to see new material.

In the context of putting it with Jackass 3... it would make a very long section and Paramount would have to make the two disc set, a three disc set. On top of that, it would delay Jackass 3's home video release since both 2.5 and 3.5 are stand-alone films complete with intros, interstituals, and on-screen graphics.

This is totally new footage than what you saw in the theaters. Johnny Knoxville was on Opie & Anthony and mentioned that there was talk of bringing this to theaters before a home release. Obviously they scraped that idea but yea for any one confused this is 100% NEW content.

Paramount is releasing segments from 3.5 online on a regular basis on Joost.com (IIRC), so one will be able to watch the entire film for free before its release date just in a very broken up form (Joost doesn't allow one to play all plus there's commercials before every segment).

For me, I'll just purchase it on BD on day one. I wasn't a big fan of 2.5 (I think Number Two was the weakest entry in the trilogy), but I'm a big fan of Jackass.

Definitely not a Double Dip. And this release was known about since before 3 hit theaters. These guys film a lot of footage, seems like they are doing they same thing they did with Jackass 2 and 2.5, and I'm completely fine with it.

i do without jackass number two as it was easily the weakest in the series, 2.5 much better film in my opionion, seeing jackass 3d in the big screen opening night was something else with a pint of wild turkey and a large diet coke. i cant wait for the first jackass high definition treatment, but i am really looking forward to jackass 3.5!

I was able to watch this film in true 3d and not the red/green version that came with the Blu ray and I must say the 3D is pretty cool.

I kinda wish they'd release all the Jackass flicks in a Blu Ray boxset of some sort. I'd buy that for sure.

I don't think it does, nothing mentioned in the review, but maybe we'll get a surprise
