Default Sony 660W 6.1 STRDG810 anyone here own it?

And if so does it do 5.1 PCM??? I found out that my 710 does not and i think i am gonna return it for one that does. So i was hoping the 810 might do 5.1 PCM or if anyone owns this Onkyo 525W 7.1 Home Theatre Receiver: TXSR505B does it do 5.1 PCM and how is this for a receiver?

Default Another thing to consider:

I was about to post a question regarding these Sony receivers (710, 810) but I'm glad I noticed your post because you answered one more of my questions. Perhaps I can ask my other one on here too:

Currently my PS3 is connected directly to my Bravia xbr2.
I was thinking about getting the STR-DG710 (but not anymore since after reading your post) and connecting the PS3 to this receiver via HDMI and then HDMI to the Bravia.

My question is:
When playing standard definition DVDs on the PS3 with this setup, will going through the receiver nullify the upconverted signal coming from the PS3??
I read on the crutchfield website that these 2 receivers, 710 and 810, do not "offer video upconversion" while the STR-DG910 does.
What does this mean?

I believe to get the upconversion you have to run the HDMI into your TV and use an Optical cable for your Audio -out but you won't be able to do HD audio with a optical (don't quote me on this one tho) so if you care abotu upconversion then i suggest you do not get these models.

Sony STR-DG810 = 5.1PCM

Sony STR-DG910 = 7.1PCM

Onkyo TX-SR505 = 2.0PCM

Onyo TX-SR605 = 7.1PCM

Video upconversion means it will take an Analog video input (example DVD player connected by Component cables) and output it through the HDMI connection. (most likely @ up to 720p)

Oh, my question was What does Crutchfield.com mean when they say that these 2 recievers (STR-DG710 and STR-DG810) do not offer upconversion?

means you cannot output an Analog source through the HDMI connection.

(some people like to run component cable input and HDMI output, it makes for less cables behind the TV/System.)
