Default Queen - Greatest Hits I & II as 24/96 download!

In Japan, anyway. Let's hope all the re-mastered albums find their way to domestic release in this format!

They're WMA files, so you need a receiver that handles them. It also will likely bounce young you don't have a Japanese credit card

stupid question - but do I need a hdmi cable from the computer to the receiver?

Honestly, I don't even know how it works. I guess you would play them in windows media player like anything else, it might just send them out as PCM over a digital connection once they're decoded in the device. I might be wrong, but I've seen WMA support on receivers ,s o that's why I mentioned it

I went through the process long enough to hit the paywall, the screen is in Japanese, but it's just email, name, card # and exp date. I didn't move farther than that, but Japanese sites have a nasty habit of not accepting non-Japanese cards even when region isn't an issue

Greatest hits collections are cool and all, but I prefer the actual Queen albums (the deep cuts are just as good (if not better) as the one ones you hear on the radio over and over).

The first 8 studio LP's/albums are my favorite!

I'd really love the whole catalog as BD/CD combos. Download media doesn't help me at all.

the catalouge on blu ray audio would be awesome

having said that, the new remasters released this year sound amazing compared to the older cd versions.

also; they are releasing "Deep Cuts" compilation with every batch of albums.
first batch was in march, the next is in june

The new "Queen 40" 10-CD box set looks mighty tempting! http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=queen+40

Don't know how they get 40 Queen years since "Queen" (the 1st LP) was released in 1973.

Good point 'SpaceDog' - This 40th Anniv. Set seems pretty decent.

I already have THIS Set that came out in 1998, "The Crown Jewels", which were Remasters of their 1st 8 Records, & as one reviewer puts it, "These are their first 8 albums, with NO BONUS TRACKS" - QUEEN, QUEEN II, SHEER HEART ATTACK, A NIGHT AT THE OPERA, A DAY AT THE RACES, NEWS OF THE WORLD, JAZZ, & THE GAME.

The "Limited Edition" () 40th Anniversary set looks pretty impressive though (with their 1st 5 Records in double-disc format. Read below).

Product Description
Exclusive to Amazon Customers: Queen's first five studio albums remastered in deluxe reissue editions with rare bonus material all in one collectible box with a 24 panel Poster for the ultimate Queen fan.

Albums included in the box:
Queen
Queen II
Sheer Heart Attack
A Night At the Opera
A Day At the Races

Queen's 40th anniversary is now upon us, and the band plans to pull out all the stops to celebrate this historic occasion. This yearlong event will be marked by a series of releases, re-releases, special limited-edition items and events around the world. As the centerpiece in the 40th anniversary celebration, Queen's studio catalog is being reissued in a series of deluxe editions. Every note is being tweaked, every piece of artwork is being cleaned, freshened up and resourced, wherever necessary, with the legendary Bob Ludwig doing the remastering, working from the original source material.

Each studio album will be released in a new two-CD edition, the first containing the updated, remastered original LP, the second disc packed with rarities--and we don't use the term lightly. Some of these gems have never before seen the light of day, even in crappy bootleg form. To cite a particularly fascinating example, five first-album demos recorded at London's De Lane Lea Studios in December 1971 were pulled from the only existing copy on the planet--an acetate from May's personal archives. Not even his bandmates had a copy
. (<--- Now That's pretty damn Cool !!).

The only thing that makes me hesitant to pick this set up is a desire to see hi-rez audio included. I'd love to get an identical set that had BD recordings, or at least DVD-A.

I have the "Crown Jewels" 8-CD set myself! (the faux velvet box be-atch to dust, I use a lint roller on it, was'nt it The Doors that mentions about "dusty jewels" in one of there songs!)

Queen really was'nt the same after The Game IMO.

From Hot Space and foward they just did'nt seem like the same band to me, sure there was alot of great songs from that period such as:

Under Pressure w/ David Bowie
Flash's Theme
Radio Ga Ga
A Kind Of Magic
The Show Must Go On
One Vision (from Iron Eagle)
Princes of the Universe (from Highlander)
I Want It All
..and a few others, but these are on various Greatest Hits compilations

I just think the 1973-1980 was much more creative "reign" for the band.

Another great under-rated record is 1984's "WORKS", "A KIND OF MAGIC" has a few good tunes, "INNUENDO" the same, & "MADE IN HEAVEN", a sort of hodge-podge of tunes recorded with some unfinished songs, is actually pretty damn good also. Just my $.02
