Default new couch suggestions

my wife wants to get new couches this year. i have seen the theater style seating some members here have. i'm thinking maybe getting that style seating as well as a chaise lounge all in matching leather. but where can i find that stuff? i sat in some of the theater seats at frys. it was nice stuff. very nice. do owners of these seats have any opinions?

i'm looking at something like this

the first one is nice because of the larger middle section, but those illuminated cup holders are sick!

I don't like the space restrictors in couches like that - besides, theres no room for 2 in that middle space. Then again, Bucko, you're married, maybe you don't want that anyway,

nah i like it because you have to be close when you're in that middle section. or you have tons of space. depending on how the mood strikes.

The seating at Fry's is Bell'O I think.

Check out http://www.fortresseating.com/produc...ter/index.html, http://www.premierehts.com/sublevel....r&sub=loungers, and http://salamanderdesigns.com/seating/index.jsp for some other options.

These are real comfortable and excellent quality home theater seating.

If you putting them in for a deticated home theater room, they are *****in.
But If they are in your living room and the only furnishings are a couple of these, it would probably get old without a seprate coutch, or love seat.

And depending on your physique, that slightly larger middle section could fit two snugly.

Then again, your right, Buck is maried.

The large is for children 8 years old up to an adult. The Xlarge giant Sac is for anyone that likes oversized... Great for large adults and couples."

We ended up going with a couch and loveseat that have recliners built in. This look fits much better in a traditional Family Room/HT.

You can also get these with a fold-down table/drinkholder in the middle.

yeah these would be in my living room which is also my theater which is why i'd need to get the chaise lounge as well. I like the couch we have now, but if it comes down to it. these are my next choice.

does anybody have any experience or opinion of these types of seats, from owning and using them?

I got a Berkline set of seats and I've been happy with em so far, look for some dealer locations near you at their website and give em a try. Good Luck!

Look into a D-Box setup while you're looking at furniture.

Exclamation I've been considering the same thing!

I have contacts through which I can get Berkline Home Theater seating near cost, which is a great bargain.

If I didn't have that, I would look at CostCo. Do you have a membership at a nearby CostCo? I think CostCo even has some Berkline products. They are very good quality.

i've been looking at couches with the buttkicker in the seats. but d box is a tad spensive. and i get motion sick, so i think if i was watching master & commander i'd puke.

We were looking at theatre seating but went with La-z-boy reclining love seat and 2 matching rocker recliners in brown leather - much more comfortable, better looking for our living room and more flexible with placement.

Home theater seating is great...for home theaters. Since your home theater is actually your living room, it would be nice to have more versatile furniture for, say, living! Theater seating is ideal for a 2-hour movie, but what about stretching out on the couch to watch late night TV, putting your feet up to read a book, snuggling with wifey or gathering around the coffee table to play a board game with family or have some coffee and conversation with friends? I don't know how important that kinda thing is to you, but I bet wifey would kill you if you turned the living room into a space where 3 chairs face the TV and that's all it's good for!

Regarding the chaise, I have one and I love it, BUT because of its size and shape, it had very awkward and limited placement options when we moved last May. Planning to move again this March (hate this house!) and I think when we get new couches I'll get a chair and ottoman instead for greater versatility. That being said, if you still want a chaise, get one that has a natural curve: leans back slightly, raised at the knees, lowered at the feet. Your back and knees will thank you!

Ideal setup for LIVING room/theater: 3-person sofa...2 armchairs with 2 matching ottomans...coffee table just large enough to slide 2 ottomans under
sofa facing TV with coffee table in between...an armchair on each side (these can face each other over the coffee table for a U-shaped conversation grouping or they can be angled toward the TV.) The 2 ottomans can be pulled up to the armchairs while angled toward the TV, put between the coffee table and TV (when it's off) for a rectangular conversation area or playing games around the table, can face the TV as a seat of its own, or the ottomans can be hidden under the coffee table when not in use. This can accommodate 7 adults comfortably, more if some people are children, skinny, or willing to squeeze.
