Default First New Album You Bought

Since I mainly buy used ones I don't have many new but the first for me was
Madonna Ray of Light remixes, I bought from Tower Records in the '90s

So what's everyone's first new one?

If we're talking vinyl, mine was Killer Dwarfs-"Stand Tall".

First new album I ever owned (received as a gift from my parents back in middle school):

First albums I ever bought on my own (back in middle school, both at the same time. Please don't judge me, I was young ):

Great, great album...and I'm not a huge MJ fan either. But you gotta give credit where credit is due!

If we're talking any format, mine was probably Billy Idol or the B-52's on cassette back in the early 80's.

I mainly was meaning vinyl but its open to any old school.

Also an Idiot for putting Madonna even if its the first vinyl I ever got new it isn't counted as an album is it?

1st real vinyl album The Police Certifiable Live in Buenos Aires

and other formats I don't remember what I got first. I think I got Cyndi Lauper Sisters of Avalon or Twelve Deadly Cyns on Minidisc first on that format or both at the same time

The first pair of albums I ever bought myself were Something Like Human (2000) by Fuel and Morning View (2001) by Incubus, both on CD shortly after the latter came out. I was in the ninth grade and had to bring in a song to school for a demonstration. I'd been downloading MP3s since about seventh grade, but I didn't have any physical media at the time. Although I've always been into purchasing/collecting films, I never got into collecting CDs. At my peak I probably had under 50 CDs and I ended up reselling them before I went off to college. Now I have something like 45,000 MP3s with my favorite 3,600ish loaded onto my iPod. To this day, Morning View still makes the cut; alas, Fuel does not.

Barring albums that I received as gifts (of which there were only two, anyway), the first albums I bought were The Best of Joy Division and Substance by New Order. Both compilations, but I saw them as part of a '2 for £10' deal in HMV and thought, "Why the hell not?" I imagine this was in 2009.

As for albums on vinyl, my first - again, excluding gifts - was Power, Corruption & Lies by New Order, which I purchased several months ago.

My very 1st cd I bought was the Mortal Kombat movie soundtrack when I was 13 years old, and then after that I bought Metallica's Load album and the rest of the Metallica albums before it.

Way back in '73 or '74 my first vinyl I got was

To this day, still think it's one of the great classic rock albums ever. Got rid of my vinyls at one point (stupid me for going to the ease of cds) and regret it to this day, had some great stuff.

That was one of the first two cassette tapes I had when I was a kid, the other was the Police.
I am 23... something tells me you're a bit older than I.
