I have noticed that a lot of people will usually have like one of two Canadian blus in their collection (US residents). I can see where one would want to import a film from Europe or Asia as there are sometimes huge differences in the quality of the film/packaging that interests some people. But as far as I can tell the US and Canadian releases are identical except for maybe slight packaging artwork.
What are some reasons that people import Canadian releases? Do they just find really cheap deals on a certain title? Or are there differences that I am unaware of? |

- Exclusive packaging or lack of (ie. Future Shop Steelbooks, and slipcovers) - That title hasn't been released in their country yet (ie Good Will Hunting, Cold Mountain etc., etc.) - Price could be a factor, but I highly doubt it since BDs can be quite pricey here in Canada. Unless if the individual is a Steelbook collector than price isn't an issue for the most part. ![]() Um, as for extras (excluding Alliance releases since they tend to be barebone releases ![]() |

A) Some films are available right now in Canada, which was mentioned already, like The Faculty and City of God.
B) Some films are the uncut versions like The Ghost Writer. C) Some Blu-ray Discs are not "flipper" discs like Traffic. Also, Ross stores in the US got a batch of Paramount/Dreamworks and Warner/New Line a portion of which are the Canadian releases. |
