59,400 WON? That's $55 at current exchange. I'm totally in on this. The Korean DVD was very good, the subs they used were actually the same script for the subs is the same as the old Viz VHS in fact.

Are these the same as the Japanese Versions?

They used the same box art, but the Japanese box included a third movie.

There were a lot of complaints about the PQ when the Japanese Blu-rays came out, so I think I may just stick with my Korean DVDs.

Very tempting.

I've already overspent on my budget though. Going to have to wait.

I understand completly, it was a toss up for me between this set & the next 2 CJ Entertainments bds...however, anime always ends up the winner for me...

It's a nice release. However, be aware that the picture has been scrubbed of film grain (DNR). To my eyes, it looks a lot like the UK Laputa Blu-ray. The picture is very crisp and colors are good. The English subtitle script is quite good, but a few typos made it in.

I just noticed that Discotek media has released a DVD version of these films, now I wonder about the quality of those prints.

I ordered mine from an ebay seller named catchopcd. Someone in the anime thread had ordered from him as well. be aware, there seem to be some bootleged Blu-rays of it on ebay, if it lists an English dub, it's a boot for sure.

Any updates on western Galaxy Express 999 releases? When are the films going to be released on BD in the UK and US? And why is it taking so long? Such a gem. Such a shame.

Update on official US release by Discotek Media: Coming mid to late 2018 with both English/Japanese audio and subtitles. Other features to be announced later. Progress. Would be nice if it was also region-free of if someone released it also in the UK.

I just ordered (off ebay) the original film and sequel on blu-ray, but with English-Dubs (along with the original Japanese audio)... both in PCM if the description is accurate. The covers look like the Korean editions but there is no Korean audio listed. I've read that these may be bootleg, but the photographs (of the actual items) looked legit and either way as long as image and sound quality are on-par with the Korean edition, I'll be happy to have the English-audio dub as an alternative.

Has anyone purchased the Korean edition who can describe the overall image and sound quality? And has anyone purchased the edition with the English dub?

I presume we're still all waiting for the official US-blu-ray-release version? Which I'll be happy to buy again if it offers further improvement in picture or sound. Just so happy to even have the chance to see this on Blu-ray now... I remember seeing this on TV (perhaps the series if not the film) when I was a kid and it's haunted me ever since...

From the seller in Thailand? Unless Toei Video has some Thailand release we don't know about, it's probably just a bootleg with the Japan BD cover, as https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Adieu...Blu-ray/94421/ looks the same as the seller's picture to me. Google the bar code on the back, if there is one, once it arrives and see if you get any hits.

The seller (jeds-dark-corner) offers a 14 day return, and so I've contacted him ahead of shipping the discs to confirm that they are not bootleg copies (and requested a cancellation if they are). since they accept returns anyway hopefully it won't be too difficult to get a clear answer/canceled order if needed. we'll see... thanks for the input!

Just noticed this from Harlock above in 2011: "be aware, there seem to be some bootleged Blu-rays of it on ebay, if it lists an English dub, it's a boot for sure"

Honestly, it's probably best to wait for Discotek's IMO.

FYI the ebay seller canceled/refunded my order when I asked that he do so if the english-dubbed edition he was selling was bootleg and not a legit-studio release.

so now what should I do... wait for the US release to hopefully be officially announced with an actual release date (soon???) or take the plunge and get the (Japanese?) edition that's out there now with no english dubs and perhaps an inferior image to what we might eventually see released soon? what to do!?
