Whitechapel November 2nd BBCA

Announced today, Whitechapel is a six-part U.S. premiere crime drama set in modern day East London where the police force is faced with the brutal and bloody history of their streets – from echoes of the 19th century and Jack the Ripper to the infamous ‘60s crime twins Ronnie and Reggie Kray. As the murder rate rises and there are no clues, Chandler and Miles realize the modern day killers are copying infamous crimes of the past. Can the detectives do what their fellow officers failed to do and catch the murderers? It stars Rupert Penry-Jones (Spooks, Persuasion) as Detective Inspector Chandler, Phil Davis (Bleak House, Vera Drake, Ashes to Ashes) as Detective Sergeant Miles and Steve Pemberton (The League of Gentlemen) as Edward Buchan. It’s written by Ben Court and Caroline Ip, Sally Woodward Gentle is executive producer and it’s a Carnival Films production for ITV. Whitechapel premieres Wednesday, November 2, 10:00p.m. ET/PT.

Sounds like a really cool show and something I will end up loving and the more Jack the Ripper adaptions the better as I haven't seen a lot of them but love the story.

Its a good show, ive seen the first series. It was in three parts and about a Jack the Ripper copycat. I missed the second series but sounds like you guys in the US are getting both series back to back.

Yeah the 3rd series is going to be 6 episodes with 2 stories spread over 3 episodes like the first 2 series. Happy that BBCA is going to air series 1 and 2 back to back.

I own several films based on Jack the Ripper on dvd, always been curious about that case.

This upcoming ITV project sounds interesting, a killer copying Jack the Ripper in present day London.


I'm all over it.

The Brits have turned out some excellent tv projects that I've enjoyed.

Haven't seen the older one's you mentioned as they have been hard to find but I love From Hell and can't wait to see what this show does with it.

Never understood the hate that From Hell gets from some fans, I liked it overall. My only gripe was Heather Graham, not a very good actress IMHO.

Cool I will have to look into getting those soon. Yeah I loved From Hell and thought it was a good movie but get's a lot of hate from people for some reason.

Watched a really good documentry on Jack the Ripper only last month on History channel. Using modern tech to map out old London, making really graphic reconstructions and going through all the old interviews, evidence and new theories, bloody fascinating stuff

I wouldn't expect series 3 to air on BBCA until 2013. Maybe late 2012 at the earliest though if ratings were good enough for them to even want to air series 3.

Not sure what the ratings were like for them.
