Colors look weird and there appears to be an element of artificial sharpening to the image. Is that how the film looked theatrically?

The color in the screenshots, look rather cold and lack warmth. This colors do not seem to have the look of a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. On the other hand this blu-ray seems to have some of the best sharpness of all Hindi blu-rays so far

the screenshots look killer to me.... perfectly awsome contrast, black levels, colour saturation and noise(grain) level....the colour tone which some are claiming to be a bit cold is original and it is director's vision...the movie originally looked like this and maybe viewing this in TVs / PJs may tell better

Thanks for the screenshots Rancho. Talking about screenshots might lead to another set of debate but here is what I am seeing.

First of all I looked at this on my home laptop which has a preset for movie viewing with BD drive and they looked less colder. Right now, I am seeing it on my office Dell Latitude which has a colder colour temp for business need (brighter whites). So colour may look bit different based on what display you are seeing this.

Having said that, there seems to be a slight cyan boost in some shots. I have not seen this in the cinema, so other members who have seen it in cinema might be able to comment on colour. To me, it appears the overall colour is based on a cinematic theme intentionally used by the director like he used in Black and Sawaariya and hence natural skin tone is not intended I guess.

I agree with Sanjay on the sharpness. Looks fantastic and natural to me. No EE and no apparent DNR. One shot where it does look like slightly sharpened is I guess the shot with Suhel Seth in it. But when I looked closely at the 1080p image, to me it looks like that possibly due to the textured nature of Suhel's face. In the same shot, other objects seems to have a natural sharpness. I have seen the same effect on Farhan Akhtar's face in KCK where it looked more sharper than the rest.

That's it, no more on screenshot. Need to see this on Blu.

Color temperature is something that can also be effected by the manner in which a screenshot is taken. Thus, only the actual blu-ray will give a true idea of this. Apart from this issue, the screenshots do look quite good and very promising.

I am going to get the BD this week and will watch it over the weekend. I am getting this BD from a friend and will only buy it if I like the film.

Will be in India this July and hoping to pick up this one some other titles (if at all some good Blu gets released in the next 6-8 weeks)

Will post my thoughts after watching.

This is released in India under the Disney label? That seems a bit odd.

There is a UTV release, is that the same transfer?

Thanks!

Disney has been distributing all UTV titles on Home Video for a while now. As a matter of fact, Disney is currently in the process of taking over UTV the company.

amazon.com has this on BRD.

Used ones in good conditions are going for $13.

I really liked Bardeim's THE SEA INSIDE which GUZAARISH copied. Still haven't seen this.

Is it worth a blind buy at $17?

Honestly I didn't much care for this movie. Thought it was dreadfully boring. Some may have enjoyed it. But not me

It's a good movie but doesn't have much replay value, from what I remember. The acting is the real reason to watch, it's the first time Hrithik actually gave a good performance.

There is a Korean Blu-Ray of Guzaarish. Has anyone seen it?

Some conflicting info regarding region coding on the korean release. Can anyone confirm whether it's A or All?
