Default 'Shark Night 3D' Review Thread (Use Spoiler Tags)

Shark Night 3D September 2, 2011

Quote:
Plot - A weekend at a lake house in the Louisiana Gulf turns into a nightmare for seven vacationers as they are subjected to fresh-water shark attacks.
Looks awesome!

I read the script a couple of months ago and loved it. I hope the movie was as fun as the script.

The sharks look cool as well.

Hopefully it's good as Deep Blue Sea, and one of the good things about Deep Blue Sea was the main 2 heroes were badass even if you hate the actors though it's hard to hate Tom Jane. Hopefully same here.

It has the same director with "The Final Destination"
so I think it's not so good

Looks good but it should be rated R. Producers said it'll be a hard PG13.

I want blood, guts, and T & A like Piranha lol.

Am I the only one thinking this'll be too much like Piranha 3D and with a sequel coming out to that not long after this comes out, I'm not sure about this. I'm sure it'll be enteratining, but I can't help feel the tone of the film will be somewhere between serious and tounge-in-cheek, so it may not be as well recieved.

I've been waiting for this for a while, looks pretty good, but did it really need to be in 3D?

I haven't seen a rating for this yet, but after Piranha this needs to be a hard R in my mind.

Also, maybe I'm missing something, but once
[Show spoiler]the first dude (black guy, naturally ) gets eaten, don't you just stay out of the lake and problem solved?

In the description it say's they try to get off the lake and get their friend to a hospital and the longer they stay the higher the risk of him dying. From the trailer it seems like people put the sharks in the water so the characters have to fight the sharks and the crazy people on land so they need to get off the lake and onto the mainland.

Yeah, I was mostly being sarcastic. I knew they would come up with something, I just like to poke fun at these movies, while at the same time having a blast with them.

OK wasn't sure but the smiles should have been a clue. It's interesting to see what these type of movies come up with to keep getting the characters back into the water. Yeah this seems like one movie that will be a blast to watch.

Not really, as this is gonna be PG-13.

From reading the script this is going to be a serious survival film.

[/SPOILER]
Pg-13. I think it's actually better that they won't be focusing on gore.

I agree I hate gore and just can't really stand or stomach it so I can't see Piranha 3D or most horror films as a lot of them are gore fests but I'm happy this isn't going to be all about gore and something I can actually watch.

Yeah, movies like Piranha 3D that is the whole point to the films gore.

shark night 3D seems to be taking a different direction which i think will be so we don't have to worry about people getting torn apart every kill there is.

Yeah Shark Night seems to be taking a serious approach to the shark survival genre and isn't all comedy and gore or as serious as it can be.

Well, I've gotta respectfully disagree with you guys on the rating. I don't get the vibe they're trying to make a spiritual successor to Jaws or anything here. It's called Shark Night 3D.
And I can't speak from experience, but I'd have to imagine that a shark related death would have to be pretty gory, so I wouldn't want them holding back on that aspect of it.
But, if they are taking the approach of building tension over cheap thrills, good luck to them. I would just be surprised if that's what this movie is. Instead I think they're trying to have their exploitation cake and eat it too.

Looks like PG-13 has been confirmed for the rating.
