Just wanted to share a little warning in case anyone was thinking of ordering this from the states. Despite the cover and the disks themselves stating they are region A/B. They will NOT play on a region B player.

The same case was with the US Blu of Nurse Jackie Season 1. The cover and the discs stated ABC, but it can only be played on Region A players.

It appears that our production department mistakenly locked Region B on this release. We will be re-authoring these disks and making a running change, but will be unable to replace your product as we do not hold the license in the UK. We cannot legally mail product to territories we do not hold the license to.


This product was meant only for US and Canadian customers, and our retailers were only given information saying that this title was Region A coded (as stated on Amazon, PlantAxel, etc). However, we cannot stop our retailers from mailing internationally. I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused, but you will need to return your product for a refund through the retailer.

I've emailed PlanetAxel in the hope of getting some replacement disks once they can confirm they are region free.

Funny thing is, NISA and Nozomi never have a problem shipping replacements to the UK. Funimation blatantly know people import their discs (what else would be the point of making them A and B?), so they are in the wrong.

PlanetAxel should technically refund/replace for you as their website is showing a back cover image of A and B, but their listing does show as Region A.

Their customer services has always been really good for me, so hopefully they can help.

Yeah the thing with Axel is they'll upload a back cover and usually a few days later will change the Region A to Region Free (Once they've physically tested it I suppose). If anything it'll teach me to wait a little bit for them to confirm

For the time I've been using Axel they've been really good to me customer service wise too, so I have some hope that they'll help me out here.

Arf, it did just like Breaking Bad seasons 1 & 2 too ...
So, if i well understood the reply you got from FUNimation, they will do new boxset of Soul Eater on blu-ray, but they will be region AB this time ?

PlanetAxel just got back to me on this and offered a full refund rather than replacing the disks. However, that won't be necessary because I've since bought a multiregion player.

What was really cool though was that they told me to return it (to Denmark) without any significant form of protection and by the cheapest possible method, as they are willing to accept the risk of a non-insured shipping method. They then refund the shipping cost as a voucher on the website.
