Greetings everyone,
I'm pretty new to the forums even though i've been reading the news for quite some time now. So this is my first post, here I go. I own a PS3 and a couple of BR movies, which I love, it's awesome, etc. However, I got some weird newbie question : How does it work when they release an old movie on BR format ? I mean the movies were recorded with old systems (excuse my poor vocabulary I happen to be French ![]() I've read the 1st movie to be recorded on a HD camera was "Miami Vice" ??? Does that mean all the movies released before and available on BR are expected to be "crap" quality compared to the newest movies ? (I mean the DVDs are already fine) All that's left is to cross fingers for Steven Seagal movies to be on BR ! (JK of course) Thanks for taking a minute to read that pile of crap I just wrote ![]() PS : You better answer me or I release the French version of Walker Texas Ranger upon you all !! ![]() ![]() |

Hmm... Walker Texas Ranger is to be feared and Steven Seagal films are highly anticipated.
That's a highly specialized taste, there. |

I guess I didn't actually answer your question.
I'm not sure about Miami Vice being the first film recorded on HD cameras - it might be true but I kind of doubt it. However, any well *filmed* picture has image resolution far better than any 1080p camera could possibly match. Films are 480i because they were recorded that way, but because they were mastered for DVD that way. They will have to be remastered at 1080i/p for HD DVD or Blu-ray release, which is why every film on DVD isn't immediately available on HD. But, as I've mentioned around here more than once, I think the studios are doing a remarkably slow job a getting quality catalog titles out on the street, as opposed to pushing out the latest "blockbusters" - if such a term has meaning in the current era of Hollywood mediocrity. |
