Default I Am Sam

Import Blu-Ray Region A pressing. Michelle Pfeiffer and Sean Penn give career-defining performances in this humorous and heart-warming film about a mentally-challenged father who enlists the aid of a high-powered attorney to help him regain custody of his daughter. An all-star supporting cast and a spectacular soundtrack complete this unforgettable story of life, love and laughter.

Actor Sean Penn displays another facet of his versatility as the title character of this inspirational tearjerker--a mentally handicapped father fighting for custody of his young daughter (Dakota Fanning). The child welfare board of his native Santa Monica has taken her from him, worried that at eight years old she has already begun to pass him in intellectual development. Sam's argument is that it's not brains but love that counts, and his case is taken by a stressed-out hot shot lawyer named Rita (Michelle Pfeiffer) who has her own problems dealing with her rebellious son. Anchored by his infectious love of the Beatles, the ceaselessly enthusiastic Sam becomes a positive influence on Rita as he raises a lot of questions about what's most important as a parent. Though it's Penn's show, Pfeiffer is so good she practically steals the film from him, and the startlingly precocious Fanning is not far behind. A warm soundtrack of Beatles covers and clever, fast-cut editing help the message of love and forgiveness shine through.

Original Production Year: 2001.

Never go full retard. You don't buy that? Ask Sean Penn, 2001, "I Am Sam." Remember? Went full retard, went home empty handed.

Some of those screenshots look more like DVD then BD. Especially, the second one as the "One Way" sign on the left is a bit fuzzy and you can't even read the words on those balloons. That should be clear as day on BD.

Great, great movie. Sean Penn's performance was amazing. The story is very touching and the soundtrack is out of this world. This is definitely one of my favourite movies.

I agree. Especially when Bluray.com and Videoeta.com have no record of the bluray release. This seems a bit odd to me.

This is a Canadian release which has been out for a while. However, 1080p or not that specific screenshot doesn't look like a 1080p HD transfer; an upscaled DVD might be more like it.

I don't particularly care for the soundtrack as I'm not a Beetles fan, but I do have to admit that this is a great film! I hope there is a US release sometime soon so that I can upgrade my DVD.

Soundtrack is equally as strong as the film. Huge Beatles fan here.

Loved both Penn's & Fanning's perfromances.

Default Should have won Award!!!

If you remember he lost to Denzel only because Denzel should have won for Malcolm X.

I don't understand what this means, "should be". I think that you mean the screenshot quality.

Why is this posted here? If anything it should be posted in the Canadian section of the forum, since this is a Canadian release.

Agreed with Adrock, this thread should be moved to https://forum.blu-ray.com/canada/ .
