Metal Gear Solid Plot - Blu-ray Forum

Alright after looking through the internet I am kinda confused about the plot of the metal gear/solid series so far i know this;
MGS3>MG>MG>MGS>MGS2>MGS4
solid snake is genetic clone brothers with liquid snake/ocelot and solidius snake. Raiden is an allie with snake and in love with olga who is sunnys mother. Both snake and Raiden are friends with Octacon who constructed the Metal Gear Rex and is Emmas step brother but was in love with her mother. Meryl is an agent working for the CID and wants to be a soildeir as her dad was a dedicated military man.

And thats about all i know that i can make sense out of, can anyone help explain the plot to me?

I've played all the games since MGS and I'm still confused by the plot at times...Before I pick up MGS4 I'm going to go back and read plots for all the games.

Raiden loves Olga? No. Olga's dead. She first appeared in MGS2, and died in MGS2, much like Grey Fox died in MGS1. Raiden loves Rose.

Everything else in the OP looks to be correct, but I'd like to add a few things:

1. Solid Snake and Meryl love each other. Or at least they did at the end of MGS1. MGS4 will be the first time she reappears.

2. Solid/Liquid/Solidus Snake are all clones of the original Naked Snake, the star of MGS3. They were cloned during the Les Enfants Terribles experiment sometime in the 70s. Naked Snake was dubbed "Big Boss" by the US military after defeating The Boss in MGS3, then defected, and was killed by Solid Snake in MG 1 or 2. Liquid Snake made it his sole mission to carry on the legacy of Big Boss, and Solidus Snake was the President of the US during MGS1, but you don't find that out until MGS2.

3. It's Otacon, not Octacon. He did construct MGR, but after MGR was destroyed (or was it? MGR was definitely in one of the MGS4 trailers), and Solid Snake was presumed dead, Snake and Otacon ran off, forming an underground group acalled "Philanthropy" whose sole mission was to destroy all Metal Gears in the world. Otacon regretted his work on MG much like Einstein regretted his work on the Atom Bomb.

Btw, there's really a lot more to the story than all of this. I would write it all down for you, but I've only played MGS 1/2/3 once each, and I'm sure I'd screw something up. Not to mention, I really wouldn't do the back story justice, and you'd know next to nothing about the Philosophers and the Patriots, and apparently those to groups are going to be the main focus of MGS4.

I'd recommend just getting MGS 1-3 on ebay. They're excellent games, and are still quite enjoyable today. I didn't get MGS 1 until over the summer, but still loved it, shitty graphics aside.

kk I get all that but i thought that raiden was in love with olga before she got killed by solidus. (watched the video on youtube) also wanna ask grey fox is that ninga right.

PS. right MGRe or MGRa 'cause ther's both REX and RAY isn't they.

Raiden has ZERO love interest with Olga. The original ninja was Grey Fox (in Metal Gear Solid). However, Grey Fox died in the battle between Liquid Snake and Snake at the conclusion of Metal Gear Solid.

Olga takes on the role of the ninja in Metal Gear Solid 2 to secretly help Snake.

Let's not forget that there is also a greater story lying behind the entire series. There is an unknown source of power that has been intervening in American policies and has been the driving force behind America's military expansion.

Well now you can play MGS on you psp through the ps3.

From what i learned Raiden was injured somehow before MGS4 so he has to wear that suit and only his head and spine are left. Since Snake is a clone he has aged prematurely.

Otacon's step mother wanted to become romantically involved with him and his father found out, and the father killed himself. (not sure if Otacon loved her back?)

I'm pretty sure they actually did the deed, which is why his father ended up killing himself.

well in the vid of emmas death he said "she seduced me i tried to resist but it just went on. My farthers death was no accident, he took his own life"

Hahaha... probably the most complicated plot in any video game series ever created. Best thing to do is go play the games in the order they were created. THEN go back and play them again.

I started with MGS3, and played 3-1-2 in order. It worked well for me.

I am really interested in seeing what happened to Raiden. What happened to Rose? What happened to him?

You forgot one game in your order, it goes like this:

MGS3-MGS:PO-MG-MG2-MGS-MGS2-MGS4

Another interesting side note, The Boss was Ocelots mother. The philosiphers took him away from her, much like the Patriots took Olga's child from her.

The Philosiphers were a group of men from America, Soviet Union, and China. I speculate the Patriots(or la le lu le lo

) are the American remnants of the Philosiphers.

Throughout the games, Ocelot plays every side of the coin, so his part in the 4th game should be very interesting, we will see his motives/intentions that stretch back to MGS3.

I definately recommend any of these games. Even if you think the gameplay, or graphics suck, most likely you'll still love the story. My favorite franchise bar none.

It was Raiden's girlfriend in MGS2.

For some reason, I think she was assigned to be Raidens girlfriend by the Patriots, but I can't quite remember, its been a long time.

Around a month before MGS4 hits, I'm gonna play through them all again, to get a refresher.

Rose is Raiden love interest I believe.

If you play MGS2, you would know this. You do get to see her at the end.

If I could afford it I'd buy them all of ebay but I just bought the orange box so I'm skint for this month. But hopefully kiojima will someday realease them all on one glorious BD-100.
