Fox (Sunshine) cover art - Blu-ray Forum

Is Fox dropping the black stripe on the bottom of their blu-rays now? I noticed on Rescue Dawn and Sunshine that it is only the art and nothing else. Man on Fire still has it, but I think that it was prepared for release a while back. Does anyone have any knowledge?

Disney also get rid of the silverish "swoosh" on their covers. I think it's clear, that the costumer knows that a "Blu-Ray Disc" offers High Definition in audio and video, so there is no need for the stripe anymore. Besides, we have now ONE HD format, so it is beyond HD anyway

Disney's swooshes and Fox's black bars still exist but only on catalog releases (for Disney certain exceptions may be made like Cars). Likewise for Sony and its blue cutouts on the back cover on its catalog releases.

Sunshine, The Simpsons Movie, Rescue Dawn and LFoDH didn't have them because they were all day and date new releases.

Same goes for Ratatouille, Lost S3, and POTC3.

Well, thankfully they're getting rid of those silly swooshes!

Hope Lionsgate is next. Although Fox and Sony were the classiest about it.

I hope Universal drop their idiotic swoop for Blu-ray, too.

I hear you Scandinavians are already making region-free BD players. Patience.

BTW -- let's not equate HD DVD with any member of the Fellowship, okay? It was not a good-guy format.

Even if we are making region free BD players, i whould not get one, i want my PS3 to be region free if i chould

Glad the "swoops" are gone. Kinda nasty looking from the start. However, those of us who have them - they will be collectors items one day.
