Hey guys. I was wondering what the absolute best way to transfer everything from one PS3 to another. Game saves, downloaded games, settings, etc. Mainly the first two though: Game saves (including the copy protected), and downloaded games.
The other thing to consider is I have a 500GB HDD I want to transfer to the new PS3 as well. If I take it out and put it in the new one, will it make me reformat it all over again? Or will it have everything on it and Im good to go? Also for the copy protected games I figured I would use the Cloud service to transfer those to the new machine, if theres no other easier way to do it. I cant exactly hook the two PS3s together because I want the 500GB HDD in the one I have set up to be in the new one I just got. Any help is appreciated. Id like to do this tomorrow night! Thanks! |

Upload the protected saves. back up to external HDD. transplant HDD. Reinstall from external HDD.
Simply transplanting the HDD wont work it will make you reformat it. You can delete all your game data if you want. None of it holds save information. However some of it does hold DLC so you'd have to redownload some of that, and it holds all the patches, so you'd have to repatch every game as well as install the game data. The only way to transfer protected saves is the cloud... If you can do a straight data transfer from one PS3 to another. |
