Default The Troll Hunter remake

Columbus Remaking Troll Hunter

Quote:
Filmmaker Chris Columbus is planning to remake the recent Norwegian monster flick Troll Hunter.

Columbus' 1492 Pictures will produce the remake along with CJ Entertainment & Media. Marc Haimes has been hired to script the redo of the original Andre Ovredal film.

"Troll Hunter was a visceral, thrilling cinematic rock and roller coaster ride of a movie. Visually, there are scenes in this film that American audiences have never seen. We want to introduce an International audience to this amazing moviegoing experience!" Columbus told Deadline.

I can't say whether this is good or bad since I haven't even seen the original. It's been released everywhere in the world but here.

It didn't even get a full proper release yet and they want to remake it? Like wtf.

They had plans to remake this even before it got plans for a release in the US. Never thought Chris would be the one to do it though.

I've always been on the side of remakes against people who bash them, but not in this case. This is such a testiment of how little creativity is left in Hollywood, it's a shame. But in Hollywood's defense, I haven't seen as much effort from other countries to put out global films, be it original work, or remakes. I don't know.

Just watched this movie tonight (recorded off HD Net Movies). I can't say enough about it. Very, very cool film. Sure, it's another "found footage" film, but it's better than about 90% of the films of that genre. Can't wait for the Blu to come out.

No, don't you understand?...A FOREIGN STUDIO OWNS it!--That's not riiiight!
Movies should be made by AMERICAN studios, because they have more money and know how to take care of it!

(No, seriously: Either it bothers the studio that it's foreign and genre, or they're jealous that they didn't release it first. It's one of those two reasons, and if there's ever a third, it's rare.
Think it's a kind of bigoted ethnicism, that if foreign countries make a genre film, it must be some sort of freak accident, and the foreign studio doesn't "deserve" to keep it--Godard does a ramblingly and impenetrably French navel-gaze on Socialism, and no one bats an eye, but the minute we get a hit Swedish vampire thrilller or hacker mystery, QUICK, LINE UP THE A-LIST STARS FOR THE AMERICANIZED REMAKE!!!!!!! )

It's a very good movie. I think you'll like it.

The only thing i didn't like was the way animated the trolls movements. It seemed too fast to me. It should of been slower to make it more believable.

I will finally get a chance to watch it tonight, can't wait!
Without seeing it, I understand your point about "giants" moving slowly...which seems to always be the norm in cinema(sans anime). But think about for a second: We, as humans, can move much faster than say an ant...and to the ant would be considered a giant. This might be a refreashing break from the slow, lumbering "giant monster" films of the past(King Kong, Godzilla, even Cloverfield). Just a thought...anyway thanks for good review! Makes me want to see it RIGHT NOW!!!
