A.K.A "The Mad Max Trilogy":
Mad Max - Warner Bros. Region 2 BD version: The sequence in which Bubba Zanetti is shot in the chest, you can see a wire pushing him back, far from the bike. Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior: 2 sequences: Pappagallo shot in the leg (wire hanging from the arrow visible) and Warrior Woman shot to death (wires hanging from the arrows visible). Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome ("the most visionary and fascinating movie of the eighties"): 1 sequence: on the "Junk Train", Aunty Entity and Savannah Nix battling over the "possess" of Master, wires visible. (when will this magnificent movie be released on BD anyway?) Note: the color timing of the VHS copies was 100% right (wires were not visible), the color timing of the DVDs was totally wrong (red boast in Road Warrior, for instance) and the wires were indeed visible. How can I contact WARNER ??? |

So what if you can see the wires? It adds nostalgia to the film.
Anyway, there's no way the Mad Max films can be released as a trilogy. MGM owns Mad Max while Warner owns The Road Warrior and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. MGM would have to sell the rights to Warner for there to be a trilogy release on BD. |

I was referring to U.S. ownership and distribution. As far as that goes it's MGM. However, it's not impossible for there to be a U.K. trilogy box set down the road.

I'm asking for wire removal for a simple reason: Lucas performed that on his mediocre movies, now why not the REAL genius trilogy, "Mad Max"? Screw Star Wars. Hollow movies, very average.

Exactly, Lucas made those changes as the entire Star Wars franchise belongs to him. So for the Mad Max films it would be up to George Miller since he directed all three films.

So what the guy is saying is that the wires were removed for VHS but not for Blu?

100% true. Star Wars was based on cheap and below average imagination, 50ies sci-fi books and Lucas' rudimentary storytelling.
The Mad Max Trilogy was 100% visionary and innovative. It created the "post-modern adventure" genre. Plus, there's a very epic storytelling process and character arc: damnation (1), redemption (2), ascension (Thunderdome). Sublime! |

I too really wish they'd release Thunderdome. |

Oh come on. That was intentionally and needlessly inflammatory, and you know it. There's no reason to bash Star Wars in a thread about removing wires from the Mad Max series. That's an easy way to drive this thread right off topic from the get go. I love Mad Max too. But Star Wars will always be one of the most successful and popular franchises of all time, and with good reason. Hell, if you want to get right down to it, the Mad Max series is almost frustratingly inconsistent. A decent first movie, a masterpiece sequel, and a misfire of a third movie. I still love it for all its flaws though.

![]() I mean, the films were okay, and entertaining to a point. For trilogies, I would rate John Ford's cavalry trilogy higher, and also the Godfathers. Matter of fact, there are probably a lot of others I would rate higher. Last edited by bluskies; 06-10-2011 at 07:14 PM. |
