Germany Austrian Blus

I looked around, but I couldn't find a thread about this...so if there is some information already forgive me.
I found that there are a lot of Austrian Blu Rays not listed, even though they are available through amazon.de.
Is there any way to update the database as user?

Of course.
You can ask for a country flag there.
Then you can add Blu-ray editions from Austria

Thanks for the warm welcome

They are mainly Austrian films, so I don't know if it's interesting for you guys, but here are some links:

Echte Wiener: http://www.amazon.de/Echte-Wiener-Di...208338&sr=8-10 (strangly the Austrian Blu Ray of Part 2 is listed under Germany)

In 3 Tagen bist du tot 1+2 (Dead in 3 Days): http://www.amazon.de/Tagen-bist-tot-...8208429&sr=1-2 (first one is a slasher, second one somewhat of an Austrian Backwood film, quite recommended)

Kottan ermittelt: Rien ne va plus: http://www.amazon.de/Kottan-ermittel...8208505&sr=1-1

Die unabsichtliche Entführung der Frau Elfriede Ott: http://www.amazon.de/unabsichtliche-...8208546&sr=1-3

It's a actually a pretty good Movie, don't let the horrible Cover fool you.

Thank you.
It's difficult even though Austria makes better Movies than Germany they have not so many releases. Would love to own "Der Knochenmann" or more Movies with Josef Bierbichler, he's so great.

I think Austrian films don't appeal to foreigners a lot as they are usually made with the Austrian audience in mind and a lot of jokes get lost during the translation because they are based on the different dialects. "Knochenmann" was quite good, but did you watch "Silentium" and "Come Sweet Death"? Same Main Character but even better...a lot of good older films were only released on DVD If you can track them down I would like to recommend you "Angst", "Geißel des Fleisches" and "71 Fragmente einer Chronologie des Zufalls".

I know silentium, but never saw the first one. Haneke is always good, altough his last two Movies, Cache and Das weisse Band are his best, always liked him but he knocked me out with those two.
Classic Austrian Movies are hard to get by, even on Television. Would also like to see a Blu-ray of Götz Spillmann's Antares, I'm not even sure but, Revanche wasn't released on Blu-ray in German?
We Swiss we like our Austrian Neighbours.
Austria is WAY closer to us than Germany.

First I thought this thread was talking on Austrian releases differing from German releases. (Like some Movies which are uncut just avaible to Germany via import i.e. Laid to Rest)

But talking on Austrian Movies (maybe regardless where they are released) I always liked "Kaliber Deluxe", even if its a co-production between Austria and Germany.
Also I liked the original "Funny Games" a lot.

You are right about the uncut editions, there should be a thread about those, it starts to get irritating how there's a uncut version of a lot of Movies available just in Austria and Switzerland. The German State has started to get overprotective of his citizens, as a consequence of not knowing how to react to the rise in youth violence.

Usually some Independent Labels release uncut version via Austria, as our law is not strict, but for mayor ones we usually get the German versions. I think I do remember that Switzerland got some exclusive uncut release from mayor labels too, no? At least on DVD...I think Lilo & Stitch was one of them...

Kaliber Deluxe is awesome and I am really curious about Thomas Roth's new film, anybody seen that? I think it was titled "Brand".

Revanche has an awesome Criterion release anyway

Hanake wise i prefer "Benny's Video" and "Funny Games" to the newer ones. 7th Continent is also interesting but somewhat hard to watch...

@ Harry Caul: If you have some interesting Swiss film recommendations please let me know. I am sure I saw some, but at the moment I just remember the horrible "Blutgeil" and the quite ok "Mosquito der Schänder"

The Texas Chainsaw massacre 1974 version was only released in Austria, and I'm not sure if Germany has the Black Edition of I saw the Devil which is the only Version I saw in Stores in Switzerland. Swiss Movies are just bad, most of the time they try with limited success to copy Hollywood formulas. And I'm not even a fan of our posterboy Marc Forster, his Movies are well made but just a bit boring.

True but then Turbine and Splendid are also more or less just Independent Labels. Btw I can't wait for their upcoming Blus of "Last House on the Left" and "Mark of the Devil"
