This is the most stupid movie, aamir khan, its like watching a documentary, half the people walked out of naz theatre, i don't even think there were songs in this movie.
Why not release Prince, what songs, hum dil de chuke sanaam, dum maro dum, anjana anjaana, break ki baad, these companies have no clue what the public wants, i don' t even think people in the whole world will buy this, i would rather watch guzarish in the arctic naked then watch this movie. |

i think this film is a bit of an acquired taste, but i really liked it. and it was received really well at the London Film Festival. glad to see it's getting steelbook treatment.
but yes i agree that other films really need to be released as well. i'm desperate to see Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in high def. |

Agreed this is a surprise and more so for it releasing in HD in India as most movies like these do not sell well with the masses in India. The HD version of this movie will sell more in Canada/USA and parts of Europe where Excel can recover some cost of authoring a BD!!

well i havnt watched the movie yet but these special features and this being a steelbook is pushing me to buy this one....but other side of my mind says that (ive heard the movie sucks and is quite boring) and technical side it has been shot with cheap 16MM cameras....which again addds an advantage to my dear friend gurkirat who loves 1.78:1 aspect ratio blu rays(which he calls full screen

Regardless of how the film was (I haven't seen it yet), I think the packaging and release should be applauded. It's everything a BD enthusiast could ask for: BD+DVD combo pack, loads of special features, and steelbook case.
We can't really complain about saying that film X or Y should have released instead of Dhobi Ghat because thats not something that this particular distribution company has any control over. Its Aamir Khan productions and Yash Raj Films that seem to be the only producers that seem to care at all about the BD medium. We can only hope that good quality films come out of these banners. I presume Delhi Belly and Lagaan will also have releases. Its sad that there's no sense of competition or care between distributors of BD. I don't think Eros, Disney, BHV, etc are willing to learn anything from this. |

I liked the movie, Aamir Khan has a penchant for being different and i appreciate that. I will buy this blu ray in support of that! Its about time we see a change in the mould of bollywood movies. I enjoyed Peepli Live, and i have the Blu Ray of that one as well!! |

I have seen lot of people complain that this kind of movies won't be liked by masses. The point is if you keep feeding them formula crap, they will never know or appreciate good films... It would take time and experimentation for Indian audience but perseverance is important in developing a mature audience with quality movies and also change the way films are made in India. I strongly believe entertainment is the key factor for cinema but it does not necessarily mean action, comedy, songs and romance like an all-in-one fruit punch. Entertainment is much more layered than what it is usually perceived as. Look forward to this one. Missed it in the cinema... Last edited by anibap; 06-17-2011 at 11:34 AM. |

I surely miss the music from the 80's and 90's and even the early 2000's. Every soundtrack nowadays has a revival of some older song which they absolutely kill!! This just shows the tendency of the lack of talent. They can sure remix a track but absolutely nothing new that will be remembered for a long time to come. Crap lyrics and don't get me started on the rap they have in the songs...ROADKILL. BTW looking forward to a day one purchase of Dhobi Ghat |
