Can't believe nobody's posted anything on this yet:
![]() List price is ¥26250. Due August 24, 2011. As of yet no word on English sub/dub (though it'd be mighty odd if it was released without either, considering the English on the box - but maybe there's precedent for that?) Having an English title on the box doesn't mean it will have English dub and/or subtitles.
If you scroll towards the bottom of the official page, it only lists Japanese LPCM 2.0, and no subtitles are mentioned. Last edited by AnimeOnBlu; 06-16-2011 at 06:09 PM. |

A. Subs announced for it in the weeks ahead, or B. Someone else to license it in English-speaking Region A Any idea what the North American rights look like for PA? |

Well, Geneon owned the rights, when they went under I guess the license fell into limbo. Funimation have been good at picking up what Geneon left behind so it shouldn't suprise me if they picked this one up sooner or later...

$300 for a 1080i upscale doesn't really seem worth it if you ask me... It will probably reach our shores sooner or later as well. It's not like there isn't any other stuff to buy in the meantime ![]() |

5 years later and the most we get in the west is a German release on Blu-ray that came out last year. I know Japanese companies are worried about reverse importation, but come on this is rediculous. They wait half a decade or more to milk their releases as much as they can! That's why we still haven't gotten a full BD box set of Paranoia Agent, The Big O, Haibane Renmei, Ergo Proxy etc. Whether they're licensed or not.

I would love to see Haibane Renmei restored on an English friendly blu-ray. For that matter, the rest of ABe's works and the whole Satoshi Kon catalog (the U.K. Perfect Blue is far from perfect - but it's sure better than what we've got in the States, which is an OOP non-anamorphic DVD or NOTHING).

The German blu-ray hasn't been released yet; latest date is end of november. |

The solution to the reverse-importation problem is simple. Just stop licensing out to companies in the English language sphere like Funimation that screw up almost everything they release in one way or another, throw English sub/dub on JP release, and let the English-speakers buy the JP release if they want it. Honestly, that there is not already an English friendly Blu-ray of Paranoia Agent available is retarded.
