Without going into too much detail, no is the answer.

We might see the later seasons eventually. The earlier seasons were mastered in SD video, though.

ER was shot on film for all 15 seasons. You can already download HD versions of all of the seasons on iTunes.

Only if Warner thinks they will make money off and have enough demand, otherwise no

yes, eventually everything that is on DVD will come to BD, if BD wants to make the full push of DVD then we will see all sorts of things no one expected

honestly i dont understand these "no's" none of you work for movie studios and handle anything that has to movies, i always find those answers to be funny.. their have already been a ton of movies people said would never make it to BD that have been wrong already, this will eventually be added to the list

I didn't say anything about how it was filmed, just how it was mastered. The first six seasons were mastered in SD (which was standard industry practice until at least the early 2000s). Are the iTunes HD versions for those seasons upconverts or did they create new HD masters?

There are technical issues for television series of certain ages, namely that there is no film master they can just scan, because post-production was done on SD video.

They would have to go back to the film elements, find the right ones (if they haven't been lost or misplaced over the years), and then edit them to conform to the original video edits. It's mostly a matter of time and money, so it can be overcome if someone sees enough profit in it.

That doesn't even touch on the series which were shot on SD video.

I would hope eventually this does come out. It's my favourite TV series of all time, and I've got the complete DVD collection. It's up to WB though. And take note of this, an alleged Friends Blu-ray release is coming up, and ER and Friends were filmed in very close proximity in both time and location. So if Friends can come out on Blu-ray, ER certainly can.

Officially, there is no confirmation one way or another.

I have a feeling (if and when) they finally release a complete show on Blu-Ray (such as the rumored 'Friends' BD boxset), studios will gauge it's success and then decide if it is profitable or not, to remaster and bring some of the older shows to Blu-Ray.

The short answer is most likely not in the forseeable future.

I'm actually surprised Friends should be released on Blu-ray before ER. ER started like 2 weeks before Friends, by the end it was costing like $1 million an episode. I guess the demand is greater for Friends.

Rumor has it that Friends is soon to come on Blu-ray, what with the whole HD 16:9 remastering in syndication on certain international channels.

ER was shot on film from the very beginning, and broadcast in SD 4:3 for it's first 6 seasons. And then from Season 7 onwards was aired in 16:9. But, anyone who owns the DVDs will know that they remastered them in widescreen with additional information on the sides of the picture. Just like they did for the Friends HD transfers. I don't think it's such a leap to assume that every episode of the show is currently available or possibly available in HD.

And if WB are in fact releasing Friends on Blu-ray in the near future as this thread would suggest then maybe they are just testing the waters to see if releasing their catalog titles could turn a profit: https://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-mo...n-blu-ray.html

Anyway, whatever happens I'm sure one day, be it 2 or 10 years we WILL get ER on Blu-ray. Thank God it was shot on film, right! :

Default ER Complete series box set?

I own all the DVD releases of ER, but they take up so much room. Does anyone know if they ever plan to release a complete set? Either on DVDor better yet Blu-Ray?

I keep keeping hope alive! There's another thread on this topic, so I check that one roughly quarterly to see if there's any news. I've emailed WB directly a couple of times to see if they have any insight/news, but I've never gotten an answer from them. ER was SUCH a popular show that I can't imagine it won't see a BD release, but I guess we'll just have to keep on waiting for some official news.

I was recently gifted all 15 seasons of ER on DVD. Just finished creating profiles in DVD Profiler for each season and for each of the discs. Within the "Overview" of each profile I include an "Episode List" and "Episode Guide" in addition to calling out any "Special Features" offered. The profiles for each season detail the "Special Features" as seen on the retail packaging. The disc level profiles detail the "Special Features" as presented from the DVD menus. Took quite a while to knock all this out. Well worth the time spent though as it will enhance the experience when I go to watch this again. Will also save me a ton of time if this ever makes its way to Blu-ray. Anyone interested in checking out the profiles feel free. Just hit up the link below in my forum signature. Anyone heard anything about a possible ER release lately? It's still at the top of my wish list!

I posted this in the other ER thread as well, but figured I would share here, too. I emailed WB again to see if they would respond to my question about this and, despite not getting answers from them in the past, I got one almost right away this time! Sadly, it's not a great answer:

"Thank you for your email and for your support of Warner Home Video products. I am sorry to say that at this time, there are no plans to put the series of ER on Blu-ray.

Kind regards,

Warner Bros. Customer Service"

So I guess I'll just have to keep on wishing it will happen!

Oh well, given up waiting & checking this thread for a decade.
Large-ass 1080p complete series torrent duly downloaded.

What a shame Warner, you could have had my cash.

Default ER: The Complete Series (1994-2009)

I own the TV series on DVD and continue to be hopeful with respects to a possible Blu-ray release. That being said, I just updated this TV series the other day as seen from My Movies for Windows Media Center. Prior I was using the same backdrop for every season. I've now got individual backdrops in place. Makes for a much better browsing experience. End result shown below. Also included below are links to my online profiles for each season which mirror my local DVD Profiler database, the "Overview" of each profile including an "Episode List" and "Episode Guide" with images. Enjoy checking it all out!
