Dreamworks Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011) Blu-ray 3D [Region Free]

Kung Fu Panda 2 3D Blu-ray

Kung Fu Panda 2 3D Blu-ray Review

I saw this over the weekend (at the theater) with the kids and was really surprised at how good it is. I was a big fan of the first one, but the sequel outshines the 1st in every way in my opinion. And the use of 3D was fantastic!! Great depth and popout throughout. The cannons fire with a really cool swirling stream trailing the cannonballs that throws off zillions of glittery sparks, and they panned the camera around the firing cannons in a way that really took advantage of 3D viewing. And that was just one small detail of this really great movie! I got my first HD TV around the time the first Kung Fu Panda came out on Blu Ray and it was my go-to disk for showing people the capabilities of the TV. It was an incredibly detailed movie, and this second movie met (if not exceeded) that level of detail, but in glorious 3D

I searched the 'net looking for info on a home release and ran across this article:

Here's a quote from the article:

Quote:
the word from Dreamworks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg is that the 3D version of the film for the home market will be a Samsung exclusive.
Ugh. I'm getting a little burned out on paying exclusively high exclusive eBay prices for all these exclusive exclusives! This one is definitely on my must-have list though.

I agree. I just purchased a new 3d TV with purchasing this movie specifically in mind. With their being so few titles out there and most of those being exclusive its really hindering the way for 3d to go mainstream and catch on. Right now I think its perception is as a gimmick and this is why. I love movies and try not to support pirating (havent used a torrent in years) but Kung Fu Panda 2 is a must and if they dont want to sale it to me outright I will get it one way or another. You would think the movie companies would want to make as much in sales as possible but *shrug*.

I thought I had read that Kung Fu Panda 2 was to be Dreamwork's first commerical 3D bluray 'non-exclusivity' release - don't quote me on that, but that's what I thought read somewhere - hope it's true though.

Jeffrey Katzenberg will continue to be the greedy panzy that he is. This will be exclusive to Samsung. He'll be the last studio that holds out with exclusives. It wouldn't be so bad if they were only 2 or 3 month exclusives like Sony does.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Yo ho, Yo ho.

I agree totally, the window needs to be smaller... I am not willing to pay for this exclusives on Ebay, I am keeping the hope they will sell them sometime for everyone.

They are hurting 3D because the release of titles is not steady, they would make it steadier... I think the next one is until August with Mars Needs Moms

as bad as Panasonics deal was with Avatar.. its just one movie..... is there a way for samsung owers to get access to these movies if they buy one tv.. or do they basically need to keep buying gear to get access to the exclusives? its not a very fair arrangement for someone who buys into their hardware

Yea, well in another thread we have already spoken about the cheating some of us have done to get the movies. I will keep doing it as long as they keep doing it.

You said it brother. It really ticks me off that Dreamworks has started making some really good animated movies in 3D, but you can't enjoy them for a reasonable price if you are an early adopter.

How can you cheat? Is it just a process of buying and item using the voucher codes and returning the item?

If it's exclusive that most likely means that they are gonna package it in the next glasses bundle for Samsung and I am curious if anybody has heard any info on that. Right now I just recently joined the 3D world like you guys and purchased my first 3D TV/Plasma (Samsung PN59D8000),I used to be an LCD man, and have been slowly buying glasses for my HDTV. Now I have three and planned to buy five overall but wanna hold off to see if I can just buy the Kung fu Panda box set for my last two pair of glasses and have some great 3D movies as a bonus.

The only date I have heard is October 11 2011 and it's from wikipedia, under list of Blu Ray 3D releases. Anybody have any better info on the Kung fu Panda 2 Starter kit.

I wonder if it's one of those online ones that only requires the numbers to be input into the web page and not a mail in.

I agree I'm sick of paying hiked prices for movies that I enjoy off ebay. I wonder how some people get their hands on these. I guess there always has to be a black market for everything.
