Blu-rays that have died or gone bad

Just interested in hearing peoples experiences. I am not talking about disks that were bad on purchase, but disks that worked fine when new, but went bad later.

My UK version of 28 Days Later has a bad sector that freezes up.

Only one I've noticed is Weeds - Season 3 I believe. 2nd disc won't load any more (tried on multiple players). Worked great when I first got it, and looks fine on the bottom.

My fiance's copy of Twilight: New Moon no longer launches from the menu. She has to go into scene select then skip back to the start of the chapter. Not sure if this was or is common but I am sure it worked when first played.

My copy of Cloverfield seemed to die. I'd watched it a few times before, but one night I had some friends over to see it. It kept freezing at the same point in the movie, no matter what I tried. The disc was spotless.

The Descent. Just didnt play one day. PS3 said it could not read the disc. Also tried on my brothers and neighbors PS3 and got the same error. Rented it for $1.99 at BB and that copy worked fine

That happened to a few blu's I own, they no longer work in either of my ps3's when they used to work just fine on both, but the same movies still work just perfectly in my stand alone blu-ray player. My brother owns all the same blu-ray's that I have which no longer work in both my PS3's but his copies work in both consoles without a problem. All it will caused by is some fault with Sony's firmware for the ps3, which effects certain batches of blu's from playing back. All the blu-rays that won't playback in either of my ps3 consoles were all from early batches released in 2006 or 2007, but all my brothers copies of the same blu-rays are from newer batches as he only started buying blu's in 2008.

The only blu-ray of mine that used to work but now won't load in anything is the 2007 release of the Fifth Element. None of my blu-rays have a single scratch on them (I take great care of them) and they have all only ever been stored on my movie shelf which doesn't come in contact with sunlight or heat sources.

The Canadian Halloween Triple Pack. Had it for about six months, then it just stopped playing. No scratches or dust, and tried it on three different players, to make sure it wasn't a problem with the individual BD player.

Odd how one day it works, then the next....nothing.

A lot of the Blockbuster rental discs have gone sour. A lot of skipping, the start movie option on the title screen sometimes doesn't work, and sometimes there's no sound.

You know, I never really thought this happened to blurays until I tried my old first release of Memento. I upgraded to the new, highly superior release of it. I went back to try and watch the old one to see how it compared to the new one and it just did not play right at all. The audio was muffled for some reason. All my wiring was perfect so it was a disc error. It must've got jealous with the upgraded copy and decided to commit some sort of digital suicide.

Bite your tongue sir! Both of those movies are good. Yeah, they are a bit slow and the scripts aren't great but damn if I don't love them.
