I have not purchased a SD movie since moving to Blu-ray (Dec 06). The last movie I purchased was Superman Returns in SD. I also received SR in Blu-ray as a gift from BB when I purchased my Sony BDP-S1. Since then I have exclusively been purchasing Blu-ray movies exclusively and renting SD movies from Netflix (I rent some Blu-ray movies from Netflix too). I just can't bring myself to spend $$$ on inferior technology any longer.
What are the rest of you all doing? |

In the last 2 years I have only bought dvd and that was a must have Universal Title for the wife. I knew I was going to be buying into Blu so I had used a little restraint. I can live without a title as long as I know one day I'll have it. If Warner does indeed slap us with those crumby flippers and its a must have then I'll just get the dvd and live with it.

Yes, but only for anime. I dont think MOST anime will hit the new formats anytime soon. I'm sure a few titles will be released, But I more than likely wont get upset about rebuying any of the high quality stuff anyway. But I realize most 'older' shows wont be released, and we'll get mostly new releases in the format.
Also, I consider TV shows everynow and then. when there is a really good sale, but I havent cracked yet. |

buying SD DVDs back in 2005 in anticipation of the switch. I've gotten a few as gifts though (birthday, Chrismas, work related, etc.).

I can say that I have NOT purchased an SD movie since the release of the PS3, and now my Blu-ray collection has increased to 38+. Over the last 2 weeks alone I purchased 30 of them, lol. Shop-a-holic I am! I hope everyone has as much fun purchasing Blu-ray movies as I do. Feedback is good. ![]() |

If something I want is on blu-ray, then that's what I'll buy, but if it's only on DVD, then I'll go for that.
Outside the movie market there are plenty of titles that aren't likely to get a release on either HD format; I'm thinking of older tv shows. I recently bought a classic Dr Who story from the 70's on DVD, I can't see any of those being remastered for HD anytime soon. But new stuff - yes, blu-ray all the way. |

I try not to if I think it will be released on Blu-ray, and I don't buy any Universal titles in general in protest.

'Cartoons' are actually rendered these days and made to look drawn, so you would see a big difference if the latter Simpsons and newer FG came out on BD.

I pretty much stopped buying DVDs almost 2 years ago now in anticipation of moving to Blu-ray. I have only purchased a few television series that I had to have (Coupling, Arrested Development, Freaks and Geeks) and some anime titles, that's about it. I basically wait for movies to some to DirecTV HD PPV, HBO HD, Showtime HD, HDNet Movies, or Universal HD, then I record them to my HD Tivo and store them there for a while. Of course, now, I purchase BDs as well.
