Default Sony's PS3 World's Best Blu-ray Player!

I just read the review of the PS3 in the February 2007 issue of the Perfect vision. Front cover has a big picture of Sony PS3 stating that it is the best BLU-RAY player. Of course they have not reviewed the Pioneer or Sony standalone models that output 1080P/24 yet. Overall for the average person the Sony PS3 is the best value for $499 20GB or $599 60GB models.
Here is a summary of the negatives in the review, No 24fps support, Technical game glitches demand immediate update for PS1 and PS2 games, Missing PS2 vibration feature, No killer videogame titles released to take advantage of the systems capabilities, Current firmware only up converts 480I DVD’s to 480P not 1080P, ***No automatic disc-format detection when loading discs***.
Ok we got threw the negatives. Here is the positives of the Playstation 3 according to Scott Wilkinson of the Perfect Vision, “Exceptional detail from BLU-RAY movies, Excellent color, Good responsiveness, Superb Sound, Least expensive Blu-ray player available (If you can find one).”.

Scott Wilkinson of the Perfect Vision magazine really liked the first-rate picture and sound quality of the PS3 as a BLU-RAY player. This player is the fasts BLU-RAY player currently on the market for boot up at 12 seconds. Hopefully a firmware update will allow the option for the PS3 player to automatically detect the disc that is inserted. Quote “Given the overall sophistication of the PS3 system, I was surprised to find that the console doesn’t detect disc formats and automatically engage the proper playback mode. I had to select the Video menu to start my Blu-ray movie adventures.”

Will have to pick up a copy!

Most of the issues should be dealt with in future firmware updates from Sony, which I have to say they have been very good staying on the ball with.

Technical game glitches demand immediate update for PS1 and PS2 games, Missing PS2 vibration feature, and no killer video game titles released to take advantage of the systems capabilities aren't technically negatives, since the reviewer sees the PS3 as a BD player, not a console.
