Default Strike Back (Cinimax)

Quote:
Chris Ryan's Strike Back is a British television series based on the novel of the same name written by best-selling author and former soldier of the Special Air Service, Chris Ryan. It was produced by Left Bank Pictures for Sky1. The cast of Strike Back is led by Richard Armitage and Andrew Lincoln, also starring Orla Brady, Shelley Conn, Colin Salmon and Jodhi May, including a variety of guest appearances including Toby Stephens, Ewen Bremner, Dhaffer L'Abidine, Shaun Parkes and Alexander Siddig. The series follows John Porter (Armitage), a former British Special Forces soldier, who is drafted back into service by Section 20 of the Secret Intelligence Service

Looks like a cool series and is something I will be checking out. It was released on Blu-ray in the UK so hopefully after it airs here we will get a BD release. It was also renewed for a second season called Strike Force: Project Dawn

That definitely wasn't Andrew Lincoln, he's currently playing Rick Grimes on Walking Dead. That was however Philip Winchester, from Camelot and Fringe. I don't get Cinemax but since this aired a year ago in the UK, all six episodes of season one are now resting in a location for my viewing pleasure. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah saw the trailer before True Blood and already have it on my to "get" list as the hotel I'm in now is way to slow for a 6 episode series. Took forever to get last weeks Glades but I wanted it so I lived through the slowness. If I like it though I will be watching season 2 as it airs in the UK which I guess is the same form of getting the episodes so that doesn't really change anything.

Yup, we get them as they do.

Why are you in a hotel? Work or do you live in one cause they are awesome and affordable?

I'm on vacation right now in Rhode Island visiting family. Leave Friday though and get back Saturday so will be able to catch up on things that I missed.

Been pretty fun these past 2 weeks and seem to have flown by faster than past vacations. I'm just happy the hotel got HBO for True Blood.

On my 4,000 road trip I took earlier this month at the end of a 17 hour hour driving day by myself, I stopped off in this little seedy motel in the middle of nowhere and as I collapsed on the bed to pass the frakk out, I turn on the tv and find the latest Game of Thrones I was dying to catch. It's the only good thing about cheap hotels when you're too tired to move.

Yeah I love how hotels/motels always have HBO it seems for all the one's I stay in. Luckily I only go on vacation once a year and that's 2 weeks 1 for Maine and 1 for Rhode Island with a 2 day car trip there and back. With my family so it's been harder to watch Game of Thrones and I'm really behind on that I'm on episode 6.

Looks like Cinimax may not even air season 1 then if they are only advertising the second season. Here is the first season's trailer though.

Just watched the first episode and really enjoyed it. Story was good and it was interesting how they
[Show spoiler]tied the events from the start of the pilot into what's going on with the kidnapped journalist.
Really hope we get it on Blu-ray though I'm not sure as I don't even think Cinimax is airing the first season as the pilot looked really good and the locations looks amazing from the preview for the next episode.

I have Cinemax right now and will definitely watch this in August. I also obtained the 6 episode "1st season" and is it even really necessary to watch season 1? Cinemax is co-financing the show and obviously they are trying to make it stand on it's own. Plus, BBC Worldwide owns the international rights to season 1, so I can't see it ever airing in the U.S. legally. Plus, I know one of the writer/producers of the show is Frank Spotnitz formerly of The X-Files and I would think he would write this series to stand alone.

I don't think it's necessary to watch season 1 before you watch the second season. Only thing I think you will miss out on is small nods or in side jokes from the first season. They seem to stand alone.

Trailer for season 3:

10 posts in the 2 seasons this show has been on? Damn, either no one in this forum has Cinemax or the show simply hasn't caught on at all.

It's one of the most badass action shows right show.

Plus, there are only 2 people who posted in this thread since 2011 and one of them is no longer posting.

BTW, I had trouble finding this thread. Cinemax in the title is misspelt and I got hundreds of results not pertinent to this.

Cinemax started with season 2, the first season of strike back with andrew lincoln was shown in the u.k, but wasn't shown in the u.s.. Cinemax season 3 will actually be season 4 of strike back.

I just started watching it and I like how the missions don't always end in the same episode, most times they take place over 2 episodes and it becomes almost of a mini story arc within the season.

it's nothing amazing but still an enjoyable hour of TV, it is like watching a action video game at times

oh and gratuitous sex

I skipped the UK s1 so gonna catch up on that, john porter is thorin oakenshield

You don't actually need to see the UK 1st season. Other than a quick cameo by Armitage in the Cinemax 1st season, they have pretty much nothing in common.

the action is really good for a tv series, I'd put it up against a lower budget action movie
