to move.. or not to move?

Okay, so I have to figure this out. I'm currently in a 1 bedroom and its a real nice size, but I want to get a 2 Bedroom and I can get one in my current building, BUT, it's on the top floor and the apartment is currently getting gutted as the roof leaked and flooded the apartment. Everything top to bottom is getting replaced and the roof has been fixed. It's only a handful of dollars more than I'm paying now, and I get to get away from the white trash upstairs. The 2 Bedroom is near the elevators, living room is about 2 feet larger, master bedroom is about 2 feet larger and the 2nd bedroom is about 4 feet smaller than what I have now. Biggest downfall, is that if my garage elevator goes out, I'm no longer on the 2nd floor and if i have groceries..... my concern is the flooding and elevator noise mainly...

What do you cats recommend?

As for the concern of walking up to your apartment, what floor is it on?

I'd say move if you wanted the extra space and better shared walls. I've not lived next to an elevator though, so I don't know how loud that would be assuming it gets loudest on the top floor. Renters insurance is what you should get to cover a roof leak. Call your insurance company, and ask specifically what happens if the roof leaks and damages your items. Its a good thing to have anyway for ~$5 a month.

I didn't see a reason for why you want to move out of your current place in that paragraph? Do you feel that you don't have enough room for your stuff right now? Is the new room more expensive per month?

Moving is a pretty big hastle. I'm leaning toward staying put unless you provide a good reason or two why a move is warranted, but all I see listed are concerns about moving...

1: if the roof is been taking care , anything that happens falls under the contractor and owner of the building , of course having insurance it is mandatory it protects you and others :

2: During the most movement hours try to hear in the apartment for noise or vibration from the elevator . As you are on the building it will be easy to set it up with a janitor to check for problems/noise .

3: get a air conditioner , since on the top floor the air temperature will be higher

I hate my neighbours upstairs. They drag chairs and tables across the floor at all hours of the night, that's #1, #2. I have enough room, but my living room is kind of crowded with a few useless things. I'm not switching buildings, so that much of the hassle is removed. Also, I just got a new BBQ and I'm low enough to the ground, and my area is turning ghetto =)

I'm at work, so we're going to try and get to see the apartment, even while they renovate to get noise happening from the elevator and I have an air conditioner now, this city is 99% humidity =P
