The XMB is the main menu when you start up your PS3.

Previously if you received a message from someone on your buddy list you would have to exit out of the game to check it. With this you can bring up the menu in-game to check stuff.

I knew it was coming but I would like it sooner rather than later.

Man..... I love how I just keep getting happier and happier with my PS3 investment. Now just give me FLAC and DTS-MA and I'll be all set!

It's already there .. but it's up to the developers to implement the items .. this is about Sony making it a user level feature that's always available.

The only thing I am really wanting for me is being able to play your own music in-game like on xbox 360, it's the only thing to me that the xbox 360 does that the ps3 can't do that I like.

Does having in game XMB access automatically mean I can play music from my hard-drive while in a game?

Or simply check messages?

You can with several PSN titles such as High Velocity Bowling.

This option will also be available in MLB 08 The Show.
