‘The Myth of the American Sleepover’ a youthful and tender coming-of-age drama

This trailer definitely gives me a John Hughes vibe, but always seems like it's just about to go into the darker and creepy Larry Clarke area but then pulls back just in time. 'American Sleepover' feels to me like a coming of age story with heart and that's always something I look for in movies, what can I say I was raised on Stand By Me. I'll be keeping my eye on this one.

In the tradition of free-wheeling tributes to adolescence like DAZED & CONFUSED, the film follows four young people (a cast of brilliant young newcomers in their feature film debuts) on the last night of summer – their final night of freedom before the new school year starts. The teenagers cross paths as they explore the suburban wonderland they inhabit in search of love and adventure – chasing first kisses, elusive crushes, popularity and parties – and discover the quiet moments that will later resonate as the best in their youth.

After giving David Robert Mitchell’s more popular films another go, I’ve been wanting to see this one. Also the fact that he made it on such a low budget has my interest.
Hope this gets a blu someday.

If you can find it, the French released a limited blu-ray edition of It Follows with Myth as an HD bonus. I’ve (after a long search) finally found a copy on eBay. If anyone is interested, I can let you know if the picture quality is indeed decent HD compared to my DVD of the movie.
There is also a stand-alone Japanese blu-ray release, but I don’t know anything about that one.

How is the picture quality on the blu-ray? I have the DVD and it looks terrible.

It’s decent enough, an improvement over the dvd - though the dvd I had wasn’t too bad I didn’t think.
