United Kingdom Torchwood - Miracle Day November 14, 2011

Torchwood: Miracle Day Blu-ray

One day, nobody dies. All across the world, nobody dies. And then the next day, and the next, and the next, people keep ageing - they get hurt and sick - but they never die. The result: a population boom, overnight.

With all the extra people, resources are finite. It’s said that in four month's time, the human race will cease to be viable. But this can’t be a natural event – someone’s got to be behind it. It’s a race against time as C.I.A. agent Rex Matheson investigates a global conspiracy. The answers lie within an old, secret British institute. As Rex keeps asking “What is Torchwood?" he’s drawn into a world of adventure, and a threat to change what it means to be human, forever.

Pitty release is long time away. Normally, with UK series, release is almost instantly after the broadcast, the way it should be.

Well you also have to remember that the show is in the hands of a new owner. Also its listed as region free another plus since the US wont get a release until sometime next year.

Spotted the trailer for this on the BBC this morning. Slightly different from the one below.

You're probably right and it indeed is a good thing, it's region free so fans all over the world can buy it. Must say, very helpful, what amazon.co.uk does, letting us know if it's region free or not. Wish amazon.com followed their example.

The first episode was pretty decent, I'm interested to see what direction they take it this season and if there will be room for future series. It has much more of a film-like/cinematic feel to it, wish they would bring back the old titles though ;o)

Liked it very much, it feels different than the other seasons but not wrong or something. Children of Earth, season 3, is difficult surpass but I'm hoping this season will!

Not sure he was the one from Alias though...

He's not the guy from Alias. Carl Lumbly was in Alias, Mekhi Phifer is in Torchwood.

Wow at that price, I will be leaving it until the series boxset I mean that will work out to be over 260 pounds for 10 episodes buying them separately.

I could be mistaken but like Children of Earth I believe this contains all the 10 episodes, it is after all spread across 3 discs...

So Miracle Day is a ten-part story like Children of Earth was five?

Edit: I can see each episode has a different title, so Miracle Day is the season's title?

What I'm wondering... is the UK version longer than the US? I mean, the BBC has scheduled it for an hour long slot and they did say there would be different versions for different countries, so... Well, we'll find out Thursday!

And another thing, 3 discs? Should be 4, tbh, for optimum quality. I mean, up to 4 hours on a disc can be done, but those anally retentive type that analyse the image in incredible detail will be fuming, I tell ya!!

And yeah, November 14th is a little late than we're used to. The show will end September 15th over here, so that's a two-month wait! I mean, Children of Earth finished July 10th and we got it July 13th! 3 days! 2 months? What gives?!? Ah well, guess I'll be recording it to hard drive! At least we don't have to wait until next June or something before (presumably) Season 5 starts (like I'd assume would be standard practice across the pond!

I'm really hoping for a new season next year, although with Torchwood it's not a given...

Episode one was 54m8s which isn't much different from Spartacus Blood and Sand so I assume they're identical with maybe some different titles/credits.

Yeah I know, the British one was 54mins and the ONLY difference was that the next time trailer was 3 minutes, 19 seconds instead of the US version that had 24 seconds.

(The British one was a trailer for the whole entire season though, but still, just trying to make the episode look longer)

Judging by the first episode it's not even worth a fiver, but I'll give it another shot next week
