Without asking if you own it, or have seen it, I'd say The Exorcist. I doubt you haven't seen it though. Also, maybe the Paranormal Activities and The Ring. I'm ashamed to say that all of these movies made it hard for me to sleep after seeing them. I also love zombie flicks, but they're more suspenseful and fun than scary.

The Strangers
I'm not sure if I would call it a "horror" movie, but it certainly retains tension throughout its entire running time. Great suspense ! |

Yeah, the ending was pretty bad and not really too scary. I was much more impressed with the first half of the movie than the last half. The brother was pretty creepy though, and set the proper tone towards the beginning.

My 2¢....
Night of The Living Dead (original preferably, but the 1990 remake is quite good as well) The Frighteners Suspiria 30 Days of Night (F$%K VAMPIRES THAT GLITTER!!!) Creepshow The Fog (the original) The Stepfather (the original) Jeepers Creepers Slither (David Cronenberg's or James Gunn) The Fly (David Cronenberg's) Videodrome Battle Royale ......and if your not put off by silent movies, the original Nosferatu is one of my all time favorites. .....and a +1 for Fenris' suggestion of Let The Right One In. The american remake, Let Me In is a very good movie, but other than being a little bit gorier, and not being subtitled, it doesn't really justify its existence. |

I have to say that last October I watched a ton of horror movies (much more than usual) and it actually did make me pretty depressed.
![]() That being said, I don't mind the occasional horror movie. But I really couldn't get into the Hostels or the torture movies. Last edited by Diesel; 07-15-2011 at 12:44 AM. |

A distinction should be made between: Psychological Horror: Shining, Psycho, Repulsion, etc (All Psychological, no gore) Torture Porn Horror: Saw, Hostel, Hills Have Eyes, etc (All Gore, little Psychological) Psychological Horror probably does less "damage" than Torture Porn, since they're less graphic, and thankfully, are better films. |
