Oh? You haven't heard? He already started shifting his slimy stance a few weeks ago to promote downloads as the future. He even said that the "BIG BUZZ" at CES was Comcast's new settop box. Funny thing is, I never read about on any of the CES reports on the web, or newspapers. I didn't hear anything about it on G4, TV news, radio news. I read and heard plenty about Warner, Panny's 150 inch Plasma tv, and OLED tvs.

why in the world anyone would opt for the $399+ player over the $250 player is beyond me....
Most Nintendo Wii buyers either can't afford a PS3, or already got one. I doubt any shortage of Wiis would drive people to buy a PS3 instead. |

If it wasn't for the six inches between his ears, he would probably be a very good reporter.

So I'm in the demographic that has both. I would guess that people buy (and use) those consoles for totally different reasons, and when Enderle says that people would buy a Wii INSTEAD of a PS3 if there were more available is just a bad analysis. This guy just doesn't get it, which is indicated in his OPPO preference. Faroudja deinterlacing fills in blanks of missing info, whereas BD and HD-DVD aren't missing that info to begin with. |

Damn, I thought it was the alignment of the planets that caused people to buy PS3's.

Well, I've done my part in leaving a comment to his article.
"Rob, Your "expert opinion" persuaded many people to buy into an inferior technology. I'm sure they're now thanking you for it. Things come and go, but one thing's for sure... you'll never admit you were misleading them, or at the least, that you were wrong. Good luck and keep on hiding behind your computer screen." Bogdan |

Why bother reading anything this guy writes?
Regardless of any particular topic, his goal seems to be to get people riled up so that whatever site he's posting on gets lots of hits. Unfortunately this legitimizes his self-described role as "...one of the industry's most influential and most quoted analysts, a widely published columnist and a frequent, sought-after speaker at industry events." Ya, sure...whatever you say Rob ![]() Last edited by mh466; 01-10-2008 at 03:52 PM. |

Far short of what this guy wrote, its clear that the PS3 took off because Sony finally could get production costs down and laid out a sweet deal that a lot of people who were sitting on the fence were waiting for...
The playstation brand name is a household name, and its younger sibling, the PS2 has sold more units then any other console out today could even dream about selling... I am sure there are millions of people out there who wanted to purchase the PS3 but felt that 600 dollars was a mighty steep price for the machine. 399 was an excellent price point for Sony to hit, and its showing as sales are taking off more and more each month.... Bluray has won the war because it was the better technology with the better content and the better backing.... I think people just like to associate Sony with everything to spin a negative light, but always forget that Panasonic has a large hand in developing the format as well.... The BDA is a group of big buisness who know what the consumers want when it comes to things like home media, and it showed.... The Wii had nothing to do with a surge in PS3 sales. and if you ask me, if it did, good because those people got a much better system. The Wii is such a huge load of garbage, my son has one, and looking for a game with depth on that system is like looking for water in the desert... I mean don't get me wrong, Zelda, Mario Galaxy, and Metroid offer some great experiances, but for those three, you have a million and one rehashed party games and BS nonsense.... |
