Would anybody be willing to help me get a copy (I'm in canada) I'd like to get it for under $20 shipped. I'm willing to get a movie in canada for somebody as a mutual trade plus difference (If there is any)! Or just outright pay you. I have a sterling eBay buyers rating lucabrasi3000.

I was lucky at my Walmart last Sunday. There was one copy left. Now there's an empty slot for MAD WORLD. I can only conclude it's selling well, but I've given up hope for a full-length restoration of this. I tend to be a pessimist, but events usually show that's the rational thing to be in this world.

Be patient. I'm sure we'll see a release through Amazon eventually

Default Big W

I have a question, I am watching the documentary of Mad Mad World on blue ray. It looks like the documentary is pretty old and it mentions that there is only one palm tree standing from the original big W. It also mentions that the owners of the property were going to restore the other palm trees and put the W back together. I was wondering if this was ever done? Just curious if anyone knows.

It looks like the answer is no, I'm sorry to say.....

"Santa Rosita State Park" was actually a private estate locally known as "Portuguese Point" near Abalone Cove Shoreline Park, Rancho Palos Verdes. None of the Big W remains, the last palm having fallen in the 1990's-2000's. A stump remains. This film location is off-limits to the general public, though the stump can easily be viewed by climbing a hill that is, from the front, around 100 feet to the left of the facade of the house. This hill is gated to vehicles but the public is allowed. Through the years, the property has taken on a noticeable slant to the left (facing the ocean), due to the Portuguese Bend landslide.

Wow, didn't realize this was out on BD. What a pleasant surprise! ...Mad World is one of my 2 favorite Holywood comedies, along with Some Like It Hot.

Walmart, I guess it's time for a visit!

Greetings from UK...the Bluray.com review tempted me to purchase this disc from USA as it was confirmed as region A and B. The disc has arrived and the film plays great - and looks better than I'd ever hoped. The big BUT is that the 2 main extras (something less serious and deleted scenes) do not play. Instead the disc stops and reverts to the players normal screen. The 2 trailers play fine. Is this because the extras are coded region A - in which case the disc is NOT A and B as mentioned - or could the disc be faulty? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I'm still amazed that Buster Keaton got such a small part for his cameo. Makes me wonder if there was more that was cut from the working print. Oh well great movie. I've never found this film too long it moves along great and is hilarious.

So is everything from the first MGM DVD on the Blu-Ray? All the deleted/expanded scenes accounted for? If I upgrade, would I need to keep the DVD?

Thanks.

Those two extras would be in "NTSC" (480/60Hz). The other two extras that play are HD. Can you play other 480/60Hz material on other BDs?

One of the cut scenes from the film is Spencer Tracy phoning Keaton.

The It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World Blu-ray Review describes what's on the disc extras. Seems to me to be the same listings as in side B of my NTSC DVD.
