No official announcements yet, but lots of speculation leaning more towards the side that it will actually happen.

Browse around the forums, you'll find lots of info.

It's still just speculation. I do expect it to be sooner than later, but no announcement has been made.

This is great and expected from the comments made by Ken G. Universal neutrality is all we need. The retailers will do the rest. I want an official announcement form Universal!

Even though it's the same story we've heard this thread was worth it for this image:

I actually laughed out loud on this one..

I like all the HD-DVD comments saying it's better, but they lost the war. I always like to laugh.

Seriously, guys, any Hitler comparisons here are WAY over the top, and in very bad taste.

Agreed. Hitler references on the web almost always are in bad taste.

It's not like anyone has died in the format war - although we should maybe place a suicide watch on some of those red ants over at AVS.

As much as this would be great news, it really could be a long time before they really do come to the blu side, I wont hold my breath.

I also think that the HDdvd would match like Stalin more because of the red army.

I agree the Hitler thing the shouldn't have been done --- but I did laugh at it - I mean it looked funny.

Of course it's fun to speculate, but all these re-hashes of the same story are starting to become a little tiring.

Rumor and unconfirmed stories have a nasty way of reappearing. Especially when the denials are half-@ssed like Paramount's and Universal's. Until they specifically deny that they are going to start releasing in Blu-ray (and all evidence points in the contrary) articles like this will keep popping up.

Agreeing with the previous posting, the statements by these studios about continued support of HD-DVD are exercises in stalling to give the negotiators, lawyers, and decision-makers time to put a path to Blu-ray plan together. These things take a little time, especially with huge multi-gazillion dollar corporations.

This should IMO also serve as evidence that Warner did not make the decision they did on the spur of the moment. Their five-month phase out period had to be calculated out so that they would just meet any obligations Warner still had to the HD-DVD side.

One thing that concerns me about Uni or Par going neutral is whether they are going to play favorites to DUD as Warner did early on. You know, not release certain titles or skimp on lossless audio tracks (not that Par and Uni did many lossless tracks on DUD).
