The Amazing Spider-Man, directed by Marc Webb, opens in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D theaters on July 3, 2012. Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen and Sally Field star.

marve's run of opening the summer is over.

But a marvel character is still kicking off the summer so that’s kinda cool. This will be 7th year in a row.

+1, as well as this series Already has a BUILT-IN Fan Base, even without the 2 main stars. UNLIKE, "The Green Lantern."

I guess Sony likes the new direction, and since it will do very well at the box office anyway. I say why the hell not lol Spiderman movies do very well at the Box Office and with the added curiosity factor this is already a certified hit.

The villain in The Amazing Spiderman 2 will be Lizard Jr. Curt Conners' son Billy will take over as the next Lizard. He will look the same as The Lizard only that he will be a little smaller, have a skateboard, and wear sunglasses.

The first AMAZING SPIDERMAN comes out Next year (2012), then this 2nd is set to release 2 years later. Seems like a reasonable time between them to me

Maybe it will actually turn out to be The Spectacular Spider-Man, and be a reboot of the Amazing Spider-Man.

Serioulsy? Have you never heard of the Green Lattern? Or the Last Airbender? Both those were supposed to be the beinning of trilogies. This could blow up in their faces. I'm sorry comic book fanbois, but you're not the metric that Hollywood blockbusters are judged by. Just because you want to strangle Sam Raimi and Tobey McGuire, doesn't mean the general public wants to.

There is still hope for a GL sequel, don't know about Avatar. And what do you mean? I want this movie to succeed. I still like Raimi's version as well.

Wow. That is quite a leap from Playb3yond's comment. A lot of movies have announced sequels before the first comes out, some don't work out, but some do.

I like Spider-Man a lot so I am glad they want to make another in this series. Here's hoping we get more than three movies before a reboot (if it is good anyway).

No it will be the Fantastic Spider-Man in a reboot. Chris Evans is looking to play in his third role as a super hero.
