It looks like one of my all time favorite 1980's movies is coming to Bluray. A great film about the Holmes and Watson meeting for the first time at an English Boarding School.

I was just going by this site under the recently listed heading:
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movie...=recentlyadded https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Young...Blu-ray/28256/ It does not give a release date but I thought if it was listed here that it meant that it was coming. Hopefully thats the case, if not I apologize for getting people's hopes up. Last edited by arcadeforest; 08-17-2011 at 10:40 PM. |

That and the Harry Potter films -- it was no secret why they wanted Columbus for HP1, because Young Sherlock Holmes is practically a HP template.

There was a website I looked at a few years ago that listed the similarities between Young Sherlock Holmes and the Harry Potter Series. I can't remember the name of it but it made a pretty good case that at the very least Young Sherlock Holmes had an influence on Rowling.

Saw YSH when it was first released years ago.
I was anxious to see it, as I've been a serious Sherlock Holmes fan since I was about 8 (I'm now 62). Fun movie, and a buy for me if it's done right. |

Knowing Paramount, expect this to be a bare bones affair.
For example: Better Off Dead... where the film's director actually works on the Paramount lot (he has an office with Nickelodeon), he wasn't even aware of the film's Blu-ray release until the announcement was already made. |

I am a Sherlock Holmes fan and like "Young Sherlock Holmes", but I would have to disagree that this is a great Sherlock Holmes movie as it takes too many liberties with the Conan Doyle character.
In my opinion the best Holmes movie is Billy Wilder's "The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes." |

As long as the movie looks great (no tampering) and have lossless audio I'm happy. I would love a full collector's edition or the like, but the movie done right is most important.
I think I have seen this in all the (main) formats: At the movies (I think we were 5 people all in all a late sunday afternoon...), have owned the VHS, the LaserDisc and the DVD. So bring on the Blu-Ray (and Dragonslayer too, why do I feel old all of a sudden?!? ![]() |

And "The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother" as well, please! "You call this tea?" "No, I call that hot water." |
