Default The Movie Studio Org Chart Thread

Hi all,
I would like to get a movie studio Org Chart thread going. If people can help list who owns who I'll put it in "org chart" form in MSFT Visio and post a JPG version here, I feel it'd be a good reference in this here format war. We'll post the top level studios a "----" line, and who they own beneath them. Let's fill this in.

The "top level" studios I can think of are:

Disney
Buena Vista
Hollywood Pictures
Miramax
Pixar
Touchstone

Warner
Dimension

Universal

Paramount

Sony Pictures
Columbia
Screen Gems
Tri-Star

Fox

MGM

Lions Gate

So the chart looks like:

Dreamworks SKG is independent (S = Spielberg, K = Katzenberg, and G = Geffen). Paramount manufacturers and distributes their home video products, however (like Fox handles MGM).

Dreamworks Animation Studios - Are they independent now from Dreamworks SKG?

So to be clear, Dreamworks SKG should appear as a top-level studio, or beneath Paramount for purposes of the format war?

I suggest you keep it top level with brackets. They are independent with respect to theatrical productions and distribution.

Dreamworks SKG (home video distributed by Paramount)

MGM (home video distributed by Fox)

This distinction is important, since it means the rights can change in the future (as they did for both MGM and Dreamworks SKG).

Dimension is part of Miramax - it looks correct in the chart but not in the text.

I dunno if you want to consider the likes of Fox Searchlight (indy arm)?

Also Focus Features - The specialty films unit of Universal Pictures.

I am sure Warner has one too... yeah ... Warner Independent Pictures.

Is Dreamworks really blue?

Depending on how specific you want to get, here's some more.

Sony: Sony Pictures Classics, Triumph Films, Destination Films
MGM: United Artists, Orion Pictures
Fox: Fox Searchlight
Lionsgate (one word, lowercase "g"): Artisan
Universal: Focus Features, Rogue Pictures
Weinstein: Dimension*

* - Disney has the rights to Dimension films made before October 2005, Weinstein currently owns the studio and the later films.

ETA: Could you narrow the picture? Even at 1280x1024 it's too wide.
