Default wallmounting a plasma

I'd like to wall mount my 60" panasonic, I've looked at monoprice for the mount and I'm not sure which one to use. Does anybody have a suggestion on which mount would be the best?
I dont need anything that swivels or turns.

thanks in advance.

Might I also suggest you consider running your wires through the wall for a much cleaner look.

Recessed Pro Power Kit w/Straight Blade

...you would still need to buy a few things from Home Depot such as romex wire and a couple single gang boxes...But in the end its so worth it. You can check out my pics.

I used this( http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2 ) to hang my 65" 135lb plasma. It has a tilting feature which I don't use, but the extra width allowed me to attach it to three studs instead of two.

Any of the tilting, low profile or ultra slim low profile mounts that can hold your TV size/weight should work.
Check here( http://www.monoprice.com/products/su...09&cp_id=10828 ). I'd suggest a low profile mount like this( http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2 ). If you need more clearance from the wall for your cables, just use the included spacers.

Same question, only mine is a 50" plasma. I want one that will be sturdy; that I won't have to worry about the plasma falling off the wall. Also it will eventually have a projector screen that comes down in front of it, so being able to get it close to the wall is a must.

Any of the Ultra-Slim Low Profile Wall Mounts that fit your TV weight/size would be your best bet. They get your TV the closest to the wall( 19mm from the wall ). I can vouch for the non-swivel Monoprice mounts. If you install them correctly( very easy to do ), you shouldn't have to worry about them falling off the wall. The Monoprice mounts are solid.

does anyone know generally how far a motorized or manual pulldown screen hangs off the wall? how much clearance it would need for a plasma?

This is one of the best screen/TV combos I've seen around here.

As long as you hit a stud, your tv won't come down. Buy or borrow a studfinder. Monoprice's mounts are as good as you will find anywhere. I have an ultraslim mount that is holding up my 50" Panasonic S1 with no problems at all.

My wallmount is the Sanus wallmount for my 60" inch Pioneer Elite Kuro PRO-151FD plasma, very good quality. The best quality wallmounts around are PDR Mounts which are made in the USA and were featured on ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition.

Just make sure you have a professional carpenter bolt the wallmount into the wall studs, that goes for any wallmount.

Why a professional? It's very easy. I use the Chief Manufacturing PDR mount, and have moved it three times, with absolutely no problems.

I use a good studfinder - the Black & Decker model is great, and shows when you're at the edge or center of the stud. It also has a great laser leveler so all holes are at the same height.

The PDR comes with (and recommends) 2.5" bolts, and selecting a drill bit is very easy. The instructions are clear, and the job is clean.

It's really easy - the only thing is, the PDR is heaviy and clumsy, you need two people to get it done. But neither of them needs to be a professional carpenter.

Anyway, I have the Chief version of this mount, Sanus is actually the same company.

I didn't have a stud finder plus I was doing over my basement at the time and after it was completed I had the carpenter install the wallmount while he was here.

PDR owns Sanus or vice versa? I know Sanus is made in China and PDR is made in the U.S., I wonder why that is?

If you aren't comfortable with it, or if it's a large mount, it's not a bad idea to have a carpenter do it. The PDR isn't hard to mount, but it's big, heavy, and clumsy (I did it once on my own, swore to never do that again). But if it's a wall with studs, a good studfinder makes it pretty easy to line things up, especially if it has the built-in leveler. I've never mounted on brick or concrete, that's a different story.

Chief Manufacturing is the main company, and I don't know the relation with Sanus, but they share model numbers and instructions. They're related somehow, I don't know the details. The truly heavy-duty mounts are generally Chief, which makes the PDR. Sanus has very similar mounts, they're both really good (and the ones I prefer). Omnimount is also very good.
