I ordered the Canadian version on Amazon.ca (since it contains a HD audiotrack and is 1080p, as mentioned on this site) but I received what looks like the USA version from Amazon: front and cover are the same compared to the prints I see on DVDprofiler
Also, the Canadian version should be from Warner, and can't find any Warner logo..... Can someone confirm the Canadian version (so 1080p and Thai HD master audio )exists ? if so, I'll return my copy to Amazon... |

You know, I have not seen this Canadian release, but I highly doubt it Warner Music are distributing this film in Canada.
The Canadian branch of Amazon are the worst when it comes to listing the proper distributor. Just this past week I sent them two messages to correct listings about Mongrel Media products, and they still have not corrected them. Pro-B |

Thanks for info, good to know: I presume the info on here isn't correct ?
It's a shame there's no definitive edition (since UK version is not 1080p) Quote:

Just an FYI:
Just because you are buying from amazon.ca doesn't mean that you will be getting a Canadian release. If for any reason the Canadian release gets delayed, on numerous occasions which I know from experience, amazon.ca has replaced it with it's US release. |

Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives Blu-ray U.S. REVIEW Again, I don't have the Canadian release to compare, but I would be shocked if Warner Music are indeed in charge with it. On a side note, I have the UK and U.S. releases, and with this specific film the difference between the lossy and loseless tracks is practically unrecognizable. The problem with that assumption is amazon.ca doesn't state which release it is - the info provided under the "Product Details" is sometimes provided from users, not necessarily amazon.ca themselves.

Just to clear some things up the Canadian "version" of Uncle Boonmee (I'm still not sure if it's the same disc as the US release or not) is from filmswelike. Their DVDs/BDs are distributed by Warner Music Canada, for whatever reason Amazon.ca lists Warner instead of filmswelike. Filmswelike has two previous BD releases in the DB already, A Town Called Panic and Cannibal Girls but both are in the DB incorrectly as Warner releases as well. Their release of LennoNYC isn't in the DB at all but from the back cover art on their site I'ld guess it is the same as the US release. Long story short the Canadian Uncle Boonmee is not a Warner release and is most likely identical to the US disc.
Edit: I have confirmation from filmswelike, the Canadian disc is the same as the Strand disc so it's not the "perfect release" with 1080p and lossless sound. ![]() Last edited by knifethrower; 08-25-2011 at 11:41 AM. |

I popped into a local shop and found the Canadian release from "FilmsWeLike" and as long as my eyes/memory weren't playing tricks on me the release does not have the Thai: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. Only Dolby Digital 5.1.
Also confirmed(?) by their website: http://filmswelike.com/dvdswelike/fi.../uncleboonmee/ |
