Default will blu-ray have progressive scanning?

what is progressive scan do by the way all i know is that early dvd players that dont have it cant play some movies without jamming up

Progressive scan reads the all of the lines of resolution at the same time. Interlace reads every other line of resolution. Thus progressive scan provides a smoother picture. Blu-ray is said to be using 1080p. Thus any movies/games in 1080p will be progressive since that's what the "p" stands for.

about the progressive scanning...
when pictures are progressive scanned, do people still speak of lines or is resolution preferred?
