Default Ps3 & 360 - Need help deciding??

I finally bought a PS3 a few days ago, soon to buy a HDTV & bought the ps3 mainly for blu-ray and use my Xbox 360 mainly for gaming. Everytime I look at the ps3, i always just want to play it, looks cooler than the 360, rarely look at the 360 anymore after having the ps3 sitting next to it... Here's what I'm trying to figure out what to do..

My friend at work is looking to purchase a xbox 360 when he receives his tax return. I mentioned to him that I just recently bought a PS3 and I haven't really used my 360, due to being at work a lot. I told him I might consider selling him the system and a few games for a decent price.

I'm not sure what I should do... Keep the Xbox 360 and use it for gaming & use the PS3 just for blu-ray which is why i bought it, but I feel like i'm wasting the PS3 just for movies, played a few games on it and love it.

I could use the money given for the 360 for movies and ps3 games. OR buy a few games on the PS3 that I like that won't come out on the 360??

Here's the breakdown

#1 Keep the 360, use it mainly for gaming. PS3 for blu-ray movies.
#2 Sell the 360, use the money for ps3 games and movies

Well, most games are multiplat ps3/360, but the ps3 has some great exclusives in the works, so you'll inevitably get some use out of the machine for gaming. Since you say you barely use the 360 now, I'd recommend selling it to your friend, and using the cash to rebuy any multiplat 360 games that you liked for the ps3.

I've been holding on to my 360 mainly for the exclusives, but I have found that I don't even play them. Gears was the game that made me want to purchase the system, but I lost interest for some reason. I was playing it for awhile and then I just found that I stopped. I was contemplating selling mine as well, but I like having it just to tell anti-PS3 haters I have both and prefer the PS3. I'd say sell it if your friend gives you a good price.

Sell the 360 to have more money for your HDTV.

However, if you really like the exclusive games for the 360 (Halo, etc.), you should keep it. By the way, the PS3 is way more than a blu-ray player, for example, you can stream photo, music and video from your PC but you probably already knew that.

I too bought the 360, for gears & halo 3. All my friends had it and I knew they were great games, but past couple weeks it hasn't been used, lost interest also.

If my friend gives me a good price, ill sell it. Like Makingmusic said, most games are multiplatform. I would really miss gears and halo, two games i liked the most, but ill think it about it some more.

I was thinking about doing that also, putting the money towards a HDTV, which is the most important piece of Entertainment.

I also liked ps3 for the streaming like you mentioned..

yeah, sell it. There are some titles that will be microsoft exclusive. but that will always happen. Ps3 has better (in my opinion) graphics and it doesn't have any red rings of death . I think the 360 is just cheesy and simple now since getting a PS3. Then you can use the money to buy blu's and games!

It honestly depends, you gotta consider certain things:

Things against the 360

1) The 360 can and will crap out on you.

There are only 2 people I know whose 360 haven't crapped out on them, I know more than 10 people that own 360's. 4 guys had their 360's crap out on them twice and 2 guys had it crap out on them 3 and 4 respectively.

2) The 360 can and will scratch discs

3 or 4 of my aforementioned friends have had their discs scratched by the 360.

3) Purely subjective, but IMO most of the 360's exclusive are not that appealing. There are good games like Halo 3, Gears, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Dead Rising, Ninja Gaiden 2 (fall 08 release)etc...but generally their exclusives do not appeal to me (And supposedly Bioshock might be ported to the PS3 and Mass Effect 2 and Gears 3 might make it to the PS3 as well). I also prefer the PS3 controller to the 360 controller, but again that's subjective

Things going for the 360

1) Multiplatforms game tend to be better on the 360. Lately that has been changed. CoD4 is arguably better on the PS3, UT3 will be better on the PS3. There are reports that Burnout Paradise and DMC4 also run better on the PS3, but as of now, MP games are generally better on the 360 and no game is that more evident than The Orange Box.

2) If you are willing to pay for it, Live is a superior online service to PSN. However with Home and In Game XMB, then I don't see a lot of advantages, if any, that Live will have over PSN in the future.

Consider these points and make your own decision, honestly I only keep 1 game console and support it, my PS3 has been working overtime. I watch Blu on it all the time and play it all the time.

I would sell it while it still has good value. Since they're in such high demand right now, you'd probably be able to get a good price for it.

One of my roommates here at college has a 360 and I have a PS3. From what I've seen, besides for a few exclusive titles (Halo, Gears, etc.) the PS3 is a FAR better value as a system. It has many of the same games, and the exclusives it has coming out this year are insane. Resistance 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 are going to be about 50 gb EACH. Microsoft won't be able to make a game that's nearly as long or has as good of graphics as either of those without using three or four discs.

I agree with the other guys - put the money towards an HDTV.

Sell the CrapBox3FixMe and go with the only system you'll ever need. You may miss out on 1 or 2 decent exclusive 360 titles, but you'll be gaining access to at least a dozen amazing PS3 exclusive titles anyways that will keep you more than busy. My PS3 is entertaining me an average of 5 hours a day (if not more... I'm between jobs at the moment) and the only time my 360 is turned on is when my rommate uses it for his copy of BioShock. I very well can't get rid of the 360 and leave my roommate without the ability to play his game. That wouldn't be very nice of me. Maybe once he finishes the game I'll consider it.

I think it depends on what games you like. If you like Gran Turismo and Metal Gear then keep the PS3. If you like Halo or Bioshock then the 360.

I know there are more exclusives I am just using the most anticipated ones

you should keep your 360. you bought it, keep it!

you WILL certainely have exclusive titles such as FF13 and MGS4 which are totally awesome! gran turismo won t come out this year, i have doubts concerning FF13.
whoever who is not a sonyfanboy can tell you that games like forza2, gears of war, bioshiock, lost odyssey, assasin's creed (hell yes, it is multiplatform game... CONSIDER : both UBISOFT and KONAMI claimed for Assasin and PES6 : "these titles are programmed for the PS3 system and will be converted to other systems regarding each system capacities"... PS3 version of AS and PES were pieces of sh*t... I really want to see devil may cry 4 now! even if I think capcom won t give us a mid-developped game like ubisoft and konami did). you also have xbox live arcade with lots of exciting games!! last game I bought Omega Five (a hyper shooting game, brilliant!!), coming up titles : raiden fighters aces, IKARUGA, see how Prince of Persia has been remixed!! KEEP IT

I'd sell it! Buy more blu-rays! Personally, I dont like the xbox cuz of the controller. It's too big and bulky! haha i know it's a weak argument but hey it's my personal preference

I have both systems, and I tend to go back and forth. I was using the PS3 a lot when I was playing Ratchet and Crank and Uncharted. Now I'm using the 360 to play Mass effect and KOF. When games come out on both systems, I actually tend to buy the 360 version (achievment points rock!). Since you have both, I'd keep them because I rather have it sitting in my room collecting dust than for me to look back and thinking I should have kept the 360.

if i had a choice to buy a game for the 360 or ps3 i would pick the 360...with that said i dont play games i played call of duty 2 and gears of war for a long ass time each..cod3 for only 2 months or so then stopped and played call of duty 4 for like 2 weeks...it is good but i just dont feel like playing games anymore...i dont know why people think the ps3 controller is better but i dont think so...and the aiming is much smoother on the 360...the only thing i would ever buy for ps3 would be a game you dont have to use a controller for like guitar hero or something...but if i was going to buy another ps3 or 360 it would be a ps3...for blu rays of course.. i have no need for a 360 since i dont play games anymore... although the only thing i do with my 360 is watch the free first episode of the sarah silverman program and tenacious d: pick of destiny music video over and over lol...but i wouldnt sell it either...

so if you still play games i would keep it because games are just simply better on the 360 ( well i only have cod2 cod3 cod4 gow and some sports games and only played online) unless maybe we are talkin about adventure/role playing games..i dont know about you but i couldnt give less of a crap about those games..sound like im hating the ps3? no but i didnt have to play the resistence demo more then 5 seconds or move the pointer for 1 second in the playstation store to feel how much worse aiming is on the ps3. that alone would make me never buy a game for it.

and to the guy that said his friends discs are getting scratched up from the 360 drive. i guarantee 95 or higher out of a 100 people dont take care of discs ,cd, dvds or anything this means never even touching the bottom of it and carefully taking in and out of the case if you dont do this everytime little dinky scratches are going to add up over time until its unplayable. im not saying the drive didnt help cause my drive has made small marks and ive also played the gow and cod2 for like 5 hours a day for a year each and switching them out with other stuff hundreds of times and the only marks are real small lines from the drive but nowhere near bad enough to make it stop playing. ps3 has made lines on my blu rays too. but it will never get bad enough for them not to play..so its not just the 360
your friends probably move the console around while theres a game in it and/orhave it standing vertical along with not being 100% careful with the disc in the first place or they wouldnt get scratched up enough to even talk about...
in conclusion lol...keep your 360 if you play games on xbox live. If you dont then you might as well sell it because the only good reason to have a 360 is to play on live..so i guess sell it and buy movies or part of a tv or games??
p.s. ill be selling this post for 4.99 on barnes and noble i have nothing else to do

It's simple really. If you want the superior machine you go out and buy the PS3. If you want something that doesn't play blu-ray you go out and buy the x-box.
