Thanks.
They are not. To start with the US set includes the original mono soundtrack which is lacking on all other releases. The isolated scores are lossy DTS on the UK set while the US set is lossless. The US "Battle for the Planet of the Apes" also includes an unrated cut of the film which is not on the UK set, the latter do have an extended scenes" bonus feature not on the US set. The US set also has additional photo galleries for some of the sequels.

No, they are not the same. Additionally, there is a Dutch set as well (possibly sold in other countries too as there are additional subtitles on it) with extras identical to the UK set but which only has lossy DTS-HD High Resolution tracks for the movies as opposed to DTS-HD MA.

I think it's still cheaper to just import Battle for the extended version (it was Battle, not Conquest, right?) and get the UK set than it is to import the US one - that's what I'll do, and swap the discs around. Region free capability needed though...

Correct, it's Battle Extended which is missing from the UK set. The UK set does include the Conquest Extended however ...

You could buy the US "Battle..." separately but it doesn't include the longer cut unlike the disc included in the 40-Year Evolution set.

I bought the 40-Year Evolution set for $40.49 which, granted, is a bit more than what the UK set but considering the better extras, the longer Battle and the rather excellent book which by far makes it well worth paying about twice what the UK set goes for now.

Really depends on what's important to you. Battle is the least favorite movie in the collection for me. I also wanted the standard blu-ray case to save space. Saving money was also a big plus. Also I heard the discs in the book are not too much fun when you need to get them off those rubber hub things. As far as extras go, some extra photo galleries seem to be the only extras the US set may have that the UK set doesn't. Not referring to Battle Extended as an extra. As I said though, it all depends on what you want. Both sets have their +'s and -'s ....

In the end, you get what you pay for. I plan to put the discs in a multidisc amaray anyway so the rubber hubs is a non-issue. I value the lossless isolated scores, the extended Battle and the book and compared to what a set like this would cost if it was released here I got one heck of a bargain even at $40.

Huh? You sure? I have the U.S. single release and IIRC it DOES have the extended version.

I'm not 100% positive but I thought I had read in the past that the single release only had the theatrical cut. Can you check yours, please? The Blu-ray.com review failed to mention its inclusion so it doesn't help.

As did I... $8 per film really isn't that bad considering.

EDIT: I see you edited yours as I typed my response.

I would like to know this too... getting this plus the UK set would still be the cheapest option

So, I am thinking of getting the US box with all the films. Any negative feedback on it? Should I rather go for the single releases or just pick up the box if I can find it at a good price somewhere?

I'm not sure there's any advantage in getting the single releases unless you prefer more standardised packaging or don't want all of them.

Good, thanks.

I don't really have any preference for the one or the other, but I think the box looks nice, so I will probably go for that if I can find it at a reasonable price.

I was just worried about the quality of the packaging. That would be a potential issue as I live in Denmark, so I can't just pop down to a shop to get my region A titles. They have to be delivered by airmail. And it seems that every now and then some company mess up their designs and releases some flimsy collector's box which is not likely to survive a trip through the mail.
