Default so bad, they're good.

recently I traded some BDs to various people and got ''shoot'em up'' and ''crank''. I love both these movies and watched them a few times over the course of 2 days. these 2 are just so over the top bad that they are awesome, as I imagine they're intended to be. I haven't seen them yet but I imagine ''dragon wars'' and ''war'' are about the same. which is why I need to see them. does anyone else share this sentiment? what other movies are out now that have this same affect on you? lots of zombie movies strike me this same way, so I love seeing them.

i like both Crank and shoot em up, but i absolutely hated War. The only reason i watched it was because of Jason and Jet Li, but what a disappointment. I can't comment on Dragon Wars cuz i haven't seen it, but i work at a theater and i've heard nothing but crap about it.

They are probably still better than One Missed Call and In the Name of the King

I'm the opposite. I truly enjoyed War, but didn't like Crank at all. I thought War had a decent story line, and a nice twist in the end. Crank was just simply bad.

I like statham movies in general. he's like van dam, but more brooding badass than guy who doesn't want to fight but has to. plus. I look similar to him (especially when I was working out 5 days a week). he gives all us balding guys a reason to feel badass. it used to be bruce willis. but now he's just old.

anyone seen dragon wars? i'm thinking about renting it, just on pure love of campiness.

I haven't seen it but my brother tells me that it looks good but the story is completely lacking, kind of like a Japanese Godzilla movie. He liked it, but IMHO that ain't sayin' much.

I like Statham too but I think War was a little lame. I loved Shoot Em Up and Crank though because neither one of those take themselves seriously. They aren't slapstick spoofs, they just poke fun at the action genre. Obviously you can't be looking for story in either of those films, you just go along for the ride. If you're open to a movie like that you'll really enjoy shoot em up or crank. War takes itself seriously and it fails...interesting twist at the end but by then I really found myself not caring.

Godzilla meets Blair Witch Project, perhaps. Based on what I've seen and heard thusfar, someone would have to break my arms and legs and drag me into the theater.

Dragon Wars, has the strangest story of any movie I have seen in many years, the effects though are nothing short of amazing

I can tell you all about Dragon Wars because I saw it last night. First, it reminded me of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers because of the corny special effects and costumes. Also it can blend in with Godzilla as well with all the beasts in the film and overall, in my opinion, this was one of the worst movies I have ever seen and waste of a rental

You're certainly right about the storyline! They picked the wrong place to start the story......Korea?????? C'mon they gotta do better than that.

CAB...Not Cloverfield, he's talking about Dragon Wars. Dragon Wars just came out on Blu-Ray a couple of weeks ago, Cloverfield hasn't even made it to the theatres yet. But it's okay I drink vodka this early in the day myself! J/K

I own both on BD, and War is better. Dragon Wars has good special effects, but the acting and storyline are horrible. It is really a very bad movie. War is ok, but the storyline is pretty bad. The ending for War is just too "fantastic" and I will leave it at that.

The Big Hit should be on the list. The movie is so horrible and yet so entertaining. From Lou Diamond's completely over the top performance to China Chow's schoolgirl outfit, this movie is entertaining from beginning to end.

As far as Torque, that movie was so bad that it was. . . well, bad. What is it with Martin Henderson? He's been in so many crappy movies its amazing. Too bad because I like the guy.

"Hackers" is like that for me. It is so bad, but I can probably watch it anytime it is on. Anyone up for hacking a Gibson? Shouldn't be too difficult being that Penn (Penn & Teller) is their security guard...or would it? The singing computer virus is always good for a laugh as well.

I really liked crank when I saw it and am considering buying shoot em up after reading this thread. I hadn't heard much about it before now, but if it is like crank then I'm in. Dragon Wars I would like to see once just for the special effects, as I love that sort of thing.

I thought war was terrible.

If you're in it for straight up action, it's pretty good. But if you're expecting any type of storyline, look elsewhere.

IIRC one of the villians was that girl with the flattened out face right?
