Default Where is SHANE?

I just watched my dvd of Shane last night and would love to have this on blu ray. There's not much action, but when the guns go off they are booming, it would look great too even if it was shot in full screen. I'm surpised Paramount did not release this back in May with the other westerns.

I expect we'll see it in the next 12 months.

Shane is my favorite western of all time. And one of the best movies ever made. Outstanding cast. I would love this on Blu Ray.

I'm waiting for this one too but I'm not holding my breath. Too bad it was shot at 1.37:1 - the Wyoming scenery really begs to be enjoyed in widescreen.

2012 will be Paramount's 100th anniversary, so we should hopefully get several of their classics on Blu. There must be a reasonable chance that Shane will be among them.

I was thinking along the same lines as yourself, Bruce. Paramount and Universal will both be celebrating their first 100 years during 2012 and already we are seeing a lot of activity from the usually quiet Universal and I am very sure Paramount will not want to miss out on the action, too. Along with Shane (1953) we may hopefully expect Sunset Blvd. (1950) and Chinatown (1974). I'm even holding out for Paint Your Wagon (1969) - that just shows you how desperate I am to get my favorite fun musical on Blu-Ray. Nothing beats Clint Eastwood singing - not even Lee Marvin! Oh, well... we can dream.

Yes I certainly hope Sunset Blvd will finally appear on Blu next year. Speaking of Billy Wilder, I'm also nursing hopes that Criterion will upgrade their DVD edition of Ace In The Hole, another favourite of mine.

There's a thread in the UK section of the forum saying that apparently Paramount have indicated in an e-mail response that they will release Chinatown on Blu in 2012. If it's coming out in the UK, I assume it will also be released in the US.

My other "most-wanted" Paramount titles are:

Rosemary's Baby
Nashville
The Parallax View
Catch-22
Ragtime
Heartburn
Gunfight At The OK Corral
Hud

Great list of movies and very likely an accurate assessment of Paramount's intentions for 2012. Let's hope so. Meanwhile, I'll hang in there for Paint Your Wagon (1969)... Shane would be nice, too.

I'm in. Shane is an exceptional film. Paint Your Wagon is just really fun. I do hope someone from Paramount is reading this.

This is one of most anticipated releases. I can not wait to see this in its 3-strip technicolor glory on BD.
