Not knocking anyone. I too have suffered from the gotta have it now problem.

It just seems kind of funny that it's been there for 2 years, but the second its re-released with a different cover, getting it becomes paramount.
That's because some members want that cool looking slipcover. The original release didn't have a slip. Plus, everyone should have this release in their collection. It's a classic from the 80's.

I sometime get the urge to watch a certain film and this sort of thing happens. It could just be that. I don't understand the slip cover phenomenon- I just toss em

Same here, I know it had the new release picture when I ordered my copy. I got the 2009 Edition. I checked the website and it's gone just the 2009 version. What happen to the release?? Is it out there and I have to order it from somewhere else?

well i had a chat with amazon and they told me they would be changing the picture so i guess they went ahead and did it. because i tried twice.. If you want to try best buy the the new one is going for 9.99 this week. not sure if it will be next week but i know 100% sure it is this week. Worth a try if best buy is close to you.

That's funny you said that. I drove to Best Buy after leaving the reply and I found four copies of the 2011 Edition. Two had the slipcovers and the other two were slipless. The sticker price was 17.99, but I was getting a credit of 9.00 for the Spy Kids coupons...so I was ok with the difference. I got to the cashier and she told me it was 9.99....awesome. I'm happy I have it now. Thanks again for your reply.

Never got any attention in the slip trade thread, but since some people here are finding it, would anyone picking up the new edition with the slip be willing to sell me the slip to add to my old release? I know some people don't care for em and are only getting the new release cause they never picked up the old one and this new one's only $10 at Best Buy. If you sell me the slip, you very well nearly cut the price you paid in half. If you have the means, I highly suggest picking one up (for me). Let me know guys, thanks.

I got this sans slipcover for 9.99 at Best Buy. Its the same edition just re-released. No issue with people wanting it with the slip and the map, but for 9.99 for the EXACT same edition. I am good...I mean its all the same features.

More power to you if you buy the slip though

Picked this up today at Best Buy (w/ slipcover ) for $9.99. Very happy!

As a kid growing up in the 80s, the films of John Hughes were pretty much required viewing.

Our car club does a Ferris Bueller's Day Off event each year. It's always held on a weekday (the whole point is to miss a day of work) and it frequently involves touring a high-end motorcar company (lots of Ferraris for sale). We also usually end up at K1Speed. It's a lot of fun!

I have the current release of Ferris Bueller's Day Off but I noticed something very peculiar about this movie. During the scene where Ferris, Sloan and Cameron are in the Taxi Cab and they meet up, accidentally, with Ferris' dad in anothert Taxi Cab. As Ferris' Dad is reading the paper, the headline reads "Community rallies arouond sick youth". But, if you pause the Blu-ray at the right time, you'll notice that the news story underneath the headline reads about a Chicago policeman who killed himself.

Talk about missing the flub on this one in the editing room.

Good catch. I don't so much think it's "missing a flub" so much as no one anticipating 25 years ago that people would be able to do high definition pauses on a single frame at home.

Before the explosion of home video in the second half of the '80s, and the ability to do frame-by-frame advancing, this was a very, very common practice in movies. Headline shots were usually up far too briefly for audiences to actually begin reading the articles proper. See another example at DVDBeaver for SCARFACE [1983] wherein the first line of the article shown references Tony Montana, then just becomes non sequiter jibberish after that...
