Can anyone who owns this title provide some information regarding the quality? I am an extremely big fan of this Sam Raimi film and seeing as though Germany is the only country it's currently been released in some info on the quality would be great.
Thanks! |

In my opinion, overall, the PQ was an improvement over the DVD. There are the occasional scratches and/or dirt on the film and the color is a bit more dull when compared to the original Paramount DVD release. I don't recall seeing any EE or DNR but it's been awhile since I've seen the disc. The disc also has an AVC encode and an aspect ratio of 1.85:1. Oh, and the subtitles are not forced.
If I get an opportunity I'll post some screenshots from the disc; maybe I'll posts screenshots from both the blu-ray and dvd to provide a better comparison. Last edited by rdodolak; 09-15-2011 at 10:08 PM. |

^ Thanks, and if you can take some screenshots that would be great just to see the difference.
Regarding the French release, yes, I'd heard it had forced subs too. I should've clarified that the German release was the first English-friendly release that I'm aware of. |

Avoid the French disc as it has forced subtitles Last edited by marblearch; 02-26-2015 at 07:21 AM. Reason: added French disc info |

"Strongly recommend this blu ray release by Nordic distributor Scanbox. They have got hold of a wonderful- almost reference standard for high definition print for this release. Colours are deep, rich and natural. No extras on the disc - just the movie. Audio is lossless DTS HD 5.1. Please avoid the German blu ray release on the Ascot Elite label as the transfer presented on that disc is dull, lifeless and washed out." Was that your review or another person? |

2 sellers I checked for Scandinavian discs on Amazon UK were Retro Foundation and Vida Entertainment , although the latter seller is no longer listed |
