What..no love for this little gem??? From Warp Films and produced by Ben Stiller, this is a fantastic hilarious coming of age movie. Got the Blu in the Play 1 day sale this week.
It has fantastic picture quality and an awesome soundtrack too.
A superb Optimum release.
Very highly recommended

I will pick this up at somepoint, just on the basis of the soundtrak cd which I own.

But it's not top of the priority list, but will pick it up one day when I see it cheap.

Did it come with the slipcover and art cards?

I'm thinking of picking it up from HMV but only if it still comes with these.

Thanks

My local HMV has it as part of their current sale for £10, complete with slip and art cards.

Just got around to watching this last week. Really lovely wee film. Reminded me of several French films (in a good way).

My 2nd best British film of the year 2011. Very short list it was.

£7.49 at Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004TFCVTK/ and HMV http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProduct...do?&sku=126415

I'll post some pics of the sleeve/slipcase and artcards when I get back to my usual PC.

It's been a fantastic year for British cinema. Off of the top of my head we've had -

Tyrannosaur,
Archipelago,
Shame,
Kill List,
Submarine,
Wuthering Heights,
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,
Attack The Block,
The Deep Blue Sea,
We Need To Talk About Kevin,
Dreams Of A Life,
Wreckers,
and the mind-blowingly ambitious The Story Of Film.

And then major financial successes like The Inbetweeners and HP, and lets not forget The King's Speech, which was a film I didn't like personally, but it was a phenomenal success. We also have singular voices working in other areas of film, such as Ben Rivers. In most quarters 2011 is being considered something of a vintage one for British cinema; I certainly can't name a stronger year in recent memory.

Not seen it but it's on my list to see.

Archipelago http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1527835/
Looks poor, but I'll take your comment as a recommendation and will watch it.

Shame http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1723811/
Fassbender film? Not seen it although it had caught my eye due to Fassbender.

Wuthering Heights http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1181614/
Looks very good and it had also caught my eye.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
Not seen, looks very good.

Attack The Block
Shit.

The Deep Blue Sea http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1700844/
I don't like anything Davies does although I will still watch this. Eventually.

We Need To Talk About Kevin
Looks excellent not seen it yet.

Dreams Of A Life http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1819513/
Didn't like it had nothing for me.

Wreckers http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1650028/
Looks awaful.

...watched that over 2 days (!) absolutely fantastic bit of television. Incredibly riveting. Would buy a DVD of that as reference.

I can be 6-10 months behind because I no longer go to the cinema. If something's good enough I'll soon pick up on it for Blu-ray or DVD. Hopefully people will start threads on these films too to spread their knowledge a bit too.

Let's see more British films on errr.... the British section

I guess it may have been a mistake by HMV but all I can tell you is that I got mine from play.com with the booklet and art cards and someone else further up the thread got theirs from amazon.co.uk with them too

Can't seem to find anything about a future DVD release of this, which seems shocking considering the scale of the programme. It was by far the best thing on TV last year, but because my Virgin+ box blew itself up I've not seen the last half of the series. Cousins' narrative style did start to grate on me fairly quickly though. There's no need to emphasise every other word. Not to mention

speaking.

So.

Very.

Very.

Sloooowly.

Don't worry, it's coming, Cousins has been working on it since before christmas. It's due sometime in the Spring, and he's still trying to clarify whether or not it will hit Blu-ray.

To be entirely honest I'm quite surprised they've managed to clear the rights of all of the films for a home video release. It took Godard's Histoire(s) du cinema years to make it on to disc, and Thom Andersen's Los Angeles Plays Itself has never actually seen release thanks for the same reason.

Ooooh thanks for that very welcome news! I'd been very skeptical of it ever getting a DVD release for the rights issues you mention, a Blu-ray release would be beyond amazing.
