I'm a diehard MGS fan, so it's safe to say that I've already pre-ordered this. It's currently listed at $79.99 on Amazon and comes with the game in collectible packaging as well as "The History of Metal Gear Solid", a 234-page art book. You can check it out and pre-order it here:

its very tempting ... i never did play snake eater or finish peach walker ...and the idea of a MGS game with trophies .. oh the fun possibilities...

This release is a problem since there are different versions coming (not limited editions). Taken from Kojimas own Twitter:

JP: This means, you can enjoy MG1, MG2, MGS1, MGS2 and MGS3 with this one!
Here you lose Peace Walker but get MGS1 (code) and only get japanese speech on MGS2

US: For this, you can enjoy MG1, MG2, MGS2, MGS3 and Peace Walker with this one!
Here you lose MGS1

UK: same package as US + MGS1 (code) + MGS4 + 5 x Art Cards
(4000 copy's only according to zavvi)

I want all games in one package off course so UK looks to be the best so far

That looks very sweet, but with all the great games and Blu rays coming out at the end of the year I'll have to pass. I know it's a limited edition, but my budget is also limited, unfortunately.

MGS1 has no trophies. Its merely a code to get the PS1 game off PSN. I would think most MGS fans already have it. Either via PSN, the PS1 original or the the last collection that was released prior to MGS4. If not, its available on PSN

I pre-ordered all 3.

I am a huge MGS fan (MGS4 ending... not so much) and have never played the games in Japanese so I would love to hear the Japanese vocals since the PS3 is region-free.

I'm getting carried away a bit with all these special editions. This is what I have pre-ordered.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection Limited Edition (PS3)
TEKKEN Hybrid Limited Edition (PS3)
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Collector's Edition (PS3)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Hardened Edition (PS3)
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Gold Remote Bundle (Wii)
Mass Effect 3 Collector's Edition (PS3)

I'm still undecided on whether I'll buy the Batman: Arkham City.

Limited editions of games are kinda hit and miss on rarity/demand. Some special editions shoot up to double or more in price due to demand and shortages and some end up selling for 1/3rd original price due to lack of demand. You never know with these things. My best guess is the Metal Gear Limited Edition won't drop much below the $80 price tag.

Best game in the series in my opinion. Definitely worth getting just for that.

So for $30 more you get an art book and collectible packaging over the standard version? I'll have to think very hard on this one. Not much of a bonus in my opinion.

Is there really any collectible packaging? If it's like the Subsistence bundle from years back it'll just be a thin cardboard box. I'm also hoping that art book is fairly big (does anyone know how big it is?). I'm not sold on it yet. Still need to decide. Would love it if they made a video showing it like the Uncharted one.

The pictures look like a cardboard box and the game case looks the same as well. Perhaps cardboard is collectible?

Don't forget that UK one is a Steelbook too

I got mine with 20% off

Good thing too as it sold out in about 3 days

Can't wait for my individualy numbered edition to arrive

EDIT: And exclusive to PS3.

The Japanese get some sweet Limited Editions too, I CBA to post them again lol, but they are in the MGS: HD Collection thread if you wanna look. Around the last 3 pages I think.

anyways, yes, IMO snake eater is my favorite one.

ironic since this series was all about Solid Snake and not Naked.
